Product description

A glass bottle with a pump dispenser at 100 ml is a ready-to-use set for serums, facial and body oils, light emulsions and liquid soaps applied in small amounts. Clear glass shows the colour and clarity of the contents, making it especially suitable for products where you want the filling to be visible: oil serums, golden plant oils or coloured tonics. The white-gold glossy pump gives the bottle a decorative look without any further finishing, while providing hygienic dispensing without fingers touching the contents.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. The food-contact certificate applies to the glass bottle only; the pump dispenser does not hold one, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products.

Why choose this set

  • Hygienic dispensing – contents are dispensed by pressing the pump; fingers do not enter the bottle and air contact is reduced compared to an open neck, which helps maintain the stability of more sensitive formulations.
  • Small, repeatable dose – the pump delivers a small amount per press, making it suitable for concentrated serums and oils where economical application matters.
  • Clear glass – chemically inert, does not react with oils or water-based components and does not absorb scents; the contents are visible, so you can easily check the remaining amount.
  • Decorative finish – the glossy white-gold pump works as a ready-made design element; just add a label.
  • Reusable – the glass bottle can be refilled after thorough cleaning and disinfection.

What suits this bottle and what does not

The pump with a dip tube works best with liquid to slightly viscous contents: facial and hair serums, oil serums and pure plant oils, light milks and liquid emulsions, liquid soaps, micellar waters with a thicker consistency. Thick creams, butters and high-viscosity gels will not be dispensed reliably or will clog in the tube. For these, a jar or pot is more suitable.

Water-based contents such as tonics and hydrolats can be dispensed, but with very thin liquids be aware that the dose may partially drip. For these, a spray is usually more practical. Closures with the same neck type as specified in the product parameters, and ready-made combinations, are available in the Handymade range.

Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Formulations sensitive to UV radiation (oils with a higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids, vitamin C, retinoids, essential oils) should be stored in this bottle away from direct light, or choose amber or blue glass.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended to hold at standard filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a reserve for the dip tube and pump body, which take up some space when screwed on, and for expansion of the contents when temperature changes. Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will overflow when the pump is fitted.

What is good to know

  • Preparation before first filling – wash both the bottle and the pump, disinfect the glass with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based product promotes microbial growth.
  • Pump dip tube – when fitting, check that it reaches almost to the bottom. If it is longer than the inner height of the bottle, trim it with an angled cut so it draws up the last remaining contents.
  • First presses – a new pump requires several empty presses before it draws up the contents. This is normal behaviour, not a fault.
  • Plastic and aluminium parts of the pump – for formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, we recommend checking whether prolonged contact affects the pump mechanism or the glossy surface finish.
  • Temperature when filling – the pump is not intended for hot contents. Allow the product to cool to room temperature before fitting the pump.
  • Labelling – the cylindrical shape of the bottle allows easy label application.
  • Recycling – the bottle goes into glass waste; the pump is a combination of plastic and metal and should be separated from the glass before disposal.

If you are filling a more viscous serum or emulsion, do a trial with a small amount before fitting the pump. This will confirm whether the pump operates smoothly and whether the product does not clog in the tube.

Frequently asked questions

Is a 100 ml glass bottle with a pump suitable for a facial serum?
Yes, the set is designed specifically for serums and oils applied in small doses. The pump delivers a small amount per press, which matches standard application of concentrated facial products. Hygienic dispensing without fingers touching the filling helps keep the serum in good condition for longer.
Can the glass bottle with a pump be used for food, for example kitchen oil?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for food contact. The food-contact certificate applies to the glass bottle separately; the pump does not hold one. The complete assembly is therefore intended for cosmetic products. If you need packaging for food, choose a bottle with a closure that also carries a food-grade certificate.
How is the pump fitted onto the glass bottle, and why does it not pump immediately?
The pump screws onto the bottle neck in the same way as a standard cap, with the dip tube pointing downwards. After fitting, press the new pump several times on empty until it fills with the contents. This is normal mechanism behaviour. If it still does not pump after ten presses, check that the tube reaches the filling and that the contents are not too thick.
Will the pump on the 100 ml glass bottle dispense a thick cream as well?
No, the pump is designed for liquid to slightly viscous contents. Thick creams, butters and firm gels will clog in the tube or the pump will deliver only part of the dose. For such formulations, a jar or pot is more suitable. Serums, oils, liquid emulsions and liquid soaps belong in this bottle.
Can I reuse the glass bottle with the pump after the contents have been used up?
Yes, glass is chemically inert, does not absorb scents and can be refilled repeatedly after thorough washing and disinfection with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Rinse the pump with warm water and a small amount of detergent, pump clean water through it several times and leave to dry. If oil residue remains in the tube, it is better to replace the pump.
Does the clear glass bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass transmits both visible and UV light. It is suitable for formulations that are resistant to light, or for products used quickly and stored in a drawer or cabinet. For oils prone to oxidation, vitamin C or retinoids, amber or blue glass from the Handymade range is the safer choice.
