Product description

This is a ready-made set consisting of a brown glass bottle in the shape of a vial with a nominal volume of 50 ml and a matching plastic pump dispenser in a white and gold gloss finish. The brown glass reduces light exposure to the contents, which is particularly valuable for plant-based oils, vitamin serums, and other ingredients that degrade gradually under light. The dispenser allows you to draw out a small amount of product each time without touching the bottle neck or contents, making it especially suitable for facial serums, facial and body oils, light emulsions, and liquid creams.

The combination of dark glass and a golden gloss cap presents a finished packaging solution for own-brand cosmetics, gift sets, or small-batch products where the appearance of the packaging carries as much weight as its function. The set as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What the set is suitable for

  • Facial serums and liquid active products – a small dose per pump press allows precise application to the face without waste, which matters with concentrated formulations.
  • Facial and body oils – dark glass protects unsaturated fatty acids from light, and the dispenser reduces contact between the contents and air and hands.
  • Light emulsions and liquid creams – the dispenser handles thin to medium-thick textures; it is not suitable for thick creams and butters.
  • Oil serums for hair and beard – the small dose corresponds to how these products are actually used.
  • Samples and travel sizes – the 50 ml volume is practical for testing a new formulation with customers or as a smaller version of a larger product.

How the dispenser works

The dispenser works as a pump: when the head is pressed, it draws the contents up through a dip tube from the bottom of the bottle and pushes it out. Each press delivers a small, repeatable amount that suits products applied to the face drop by drop. The exact dose value is stated in the specifications. Before first use, the dispenser needs to be pressed several times without dispensing until the tube fills and the product begins to come out.

This is not an airless system. With each press, air is drawn into the bottle to replace the dispensed volume, so water-based and emulsion formulations require standard preservation as with any open packaging. Compared to an open neck or dropper, however, the dispenser significantly reduces the risk of contamination from fingers.

The dispenser dip tube may be longer than the height of the bottle allows. Before assembling for the first time, place it against the bottle and trim it if necessary so that after screwing on it reaches just above the bottom without bending. A bent tube draws less effectively and leaves more unused product at the bottom.

Nominal and total volume

The bottle has a nominal volume of 50 ml. This is the volume the packaging is intended for during standard filling and what is stated on the label. The total volume to the rim is greater and represents the physical capacity up to the neck. The difference between the two values is the allowance for the dip tube and the dispenser body, which displace part of the volume when screwed on, as well as space for the contents to expand with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the rim. Overfilling would cause the contents to leak from the neck when fitting the dispenser.

What's good to know

Preparation before filling. Before first use, wash the bottle, sanitise it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely neck down. Do not disassemble the dispenser; it is sufficient to rinse it with clean ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and leave it to dry. Residual water in the mechanism could dilute the first doses or promote microbial growth.

Content consistency. The dispenser is designed for liquid and slightly viscous products. A thick cream will either not draw through the tube or will dispense irregularly. For emulsions, we recommend testing the behaviour of the dispenser with the specific formulation before filling a larger batch.

Formulation composition and plastic parts. Glass is practically inert to cosmetic ingredients. For formulations with a high proportion of neat essential oils or organic solvents, we recommend checking the seal integrity and functionality of the dispenser after a few weeks.

Glass and temperature. Do not fill the bottle with hot contents and do not expose it to sudden temperature changes. Allow emulsions to cool to at least a lukewarm temperature before filling.

Labelling. The cylindrical shape of the vial allows a label to be applied around the entire circumference. Light and metallic labels that complement the gold cap stand out well on dark glass.

Reuse. The glass bottle can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. The dispenser is better replaced after prolonged use, as its internal mechanism cannot be thoroughly cleaned. Once the dispenser is separated, the bottle goes into glass recycling; the dispenser is a composite product made of plastic and metal.

The set as a whole is not approved for contact with food. The glass bottle alone holds a certificate for direct food contact. Once the dispenser is fitted, use the set only for cosmetic products.

Frequently asked questions

Does the brown glass bottle with dispenser protect the contents from light?
Yes, brown glass significantly limits light penetration, including its UV component, and thus slows down light-induced changes to the contents. It is therefore suitable for plant-based oils, serums with vitamin C or retinol, and products with essential oils. It does not, however, replace an antioxidant in the formulation or proper storage away from direct sunlight.
What products can be dispensed from this 50 ml vial with a pump dispenser?
The dispenser is intended for liquid and slightly viscous products, meaning serums, facial and body oils, liquid creams, and light emulsions. Thick creams, butters, and high-viscosity gels will either not draw through or will dispense irregularly. For emulsions, we recommend testing the dispensing on one bottle before filling the entire batch.
Is the vial and dispenser set also suitable for food, for example homemade oils?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for contact with food. The glass bottle alone holds a food contact certificate; the plastic dispenser does not. Once the dispenser is fitted, use the set only for cosmetic products, for which it is declared as suitable.
How much product fits in the bottle with the dispenser and how should it be filled?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 50 ml, not to the rim. The total volume up to the neck is greater, but this allowance is taken up by the dip tube and the dispenser body, and also serves as space for the contents to expand with temperature changes. Overfilling will cause the contents to leak through the neck when the dispenser is screwed on, contaminating the thread.
Can the bottle with the dispenser be washed and reused?
The glass bottle yes — after washing and disinfection with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol it can be refilled repeatedly. The dispenser can be rinsed with alcohol, but its internal mechanism cannot be fully cleaned, so when changing formulation or after prolonged use it is better to fit a new one. Allow both parts to dry completely before each filling.
Why does the dispenser not dispense anything on the first press?
This is normal — the dispenser needs several presses before the tube and mechanism fill with product. If the product still does not come out after several presses, check that the tube reaches the bottom and is not bent, and that the contents are not too thick for this type of dispenser.
