It is a PEG-free, biodegradable, non-ethoxylated raw material that is known for its good tolerability even on sensitive skin. It is mainly used in cosmetics to form stable oil-in-water emulsions, improving texture, spreadability and leaving a pleasant non-greasy feel. In addition, it can also act as a solubilizer for some oils or fragrances.
