Product description
This glass bottle with a lotion pump combines a white medicine bottle, 100 ml with a black plastic lotion pump, so cream or lotion is dispensed by pressing the pump, without unscrewing anything and without scooping with your fingers. White glass is opaque and protects the contents from light, a real advantage for emulsions containing vegetable oils, vitamins or essential oils, as these lose stability faster in light. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the declaration of conformity is available with the product.
What it is used for
- Face and body creams – dispensing without your hands touching the contents reduces the risk of introducing microorganisms into the cream, which is especially valuable for formulations with a lower preservative usage rate.
- Body lotions and light emulsions – thinner textures pass through the pump without effort.
- Thicker serums and gel creams – both water-based and emulsion gels, which would be hard to scoop from a jar and would get contaminated, are dispensed cleanly with the pump.
- Cleansing milks and liquid masks – one press releases a small amount, so the packaging is also easy to use in the bathroom, where the product is dispensed with wet hands.
This set is not suitable for anhydrous butters, solid balms or products with solid particles, such as scrubs. Thick products cannot be drawn up through the tube, and small particles will clog the pump mechanism.
Filling and dispensing
The pump draws the contents up through a tube from the bottom of the bottle, and one press releases approximately 0.12 ml. When using it for the first time, press the pump several times until the tube fills and the cream starts to come out evenly. The tube reaches almost to the bottom, so the amount that cannot be dispensed is small, but with thicker creams you should allow for it.
The nominal volume is the volume the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and can be found in the parameters. The difference is a reserve for the tube and pump and for slight expansion of the contents, so the bottle should be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is overfilled, some of the cream will be pushed out through the neck when the pump is screwed on.
Fill the emulsion only when it is completely cooled and finished, including the preservative and fragrance. Once the pump is screwed on, the contents can no longer be stirred or topped up without the risk of introducing impurities.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. For the pump, it is enough to pump alcohol through it several times and also leave it to dry. Residual water in the tube would introduce moisture and microorganisms into the cream.
Glass withstands heat, but not sudden changes in temperature. Do not pour a hot mixture into a cold bottle, and do not expose a filled bottle to frost. The pump is made of polypropylene, which is resistant to most cosmetic raw materials. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend testing how the tube and seal behave with your specific formulation.
You can use the bottle repeatedly. The pump can be rinsed with warm water, flushed through with clean water and then with alcohol. If cream residues have dried in it or it has lost its seal, replace it with a new one and the bottle can continue to be used. Other closures with the same neck type also fit the bottle itself, and you can find ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the seal and dispensing with your formulation.
A glass bottle is heavier than plastic packaging and breaks if dropped. Pack it with filling material when shipping, and take the weight of the pack into account when selling.
For recycling, separate the glass from the plastic pump, as each material belongs in a different collection container.
