Product description
Cream, body milk or a thicker serum is dispensed from this 100 ml white glass medicine bottle simply by pressing the pump head, with no scooping with your fingers and no need to open the whole pack. White glass is opaque, so the contents cannot be seen from outside and less light reaches them than through clear glass, which is useful for emulsions with vegetable oils or more sensitive active ingredients. The set consists of the bottle and a black plastic lotion pump, which fits the bottle and forms a closed unit with it.
It is suitable for face and body creams, cream serums, thicker milks, aftershave balms or hand creams in smaller sizes. The packaging is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set has no food-contact certificate, so it is intended for cosmetics.
How the set works
- Lotion pump – pressing the pump head dispenses approximately 0.14 ml of product. With body milk, you simply press several times.
- Dip tube – it reaches the bottom of the bottle, so the product is drawn up from below.
- White glass – opaque packaging, the contents cannot be seen from outside. Once empty, the glass can be washed, disinfected and refilled.
- Black pump with black top – the whole closure is in a single colour and forms a uniform set with the white glass, with no further adjustment.
Filling and volume
The bottle is intended to be filled up to the nominal volume of 100 ml. The brimful volume given in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between the two values is a reserve for the pump’s dip tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the brim, part of the contents will overflow through the neck when the pump is fitted and the thread will get dirty.
Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Rinse the pump, press it several times without product and leave it to drain. Residual water in the dip tube would dilute the first doses.
Cream is best filled into the narrow neck with a funnel or from a bag with the corner cut off. Let the emulsion cool to room temperature before filling.
Which formulations it suits
The lotion pump is designed for thicker consistencies: creams, milks, cream serums and emulsions that hold their shape. Very thin water-based products, such as toners or hydrosols, easily run out of the pump head and the dose is not consistent. A fine mist sprayer or a dropper is more suitable for such contents.
The pump will not draw up very firm balms or butters that do not flow at room temperature. A formulation with coarser particles, for example scrub particles, may block the dip tube or the valve. We recommend testing the behaviour of your specific recipe on one piece before filling larger quantities.
Good to know
- Other closures – closures for the same neck type and ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. With your own combination, check the tightness, the dosing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
- Dip tube and bottom – if the pump cannot be tightened because the dip tube presses on the bottom of the bottle, shorten it with an angled cut. An angled end will not stick to the bottom.
- Reuse – the glass bottle can be reused after washing and disinfection. The pump is harder to clean inside, so we recommend replacing it when you change the recipe or fragrance.
- Recycling – the bottle belongs in glass recycling, the pump is made of polypropylene and is sorted as plastic. Take the set apart before disposal.
Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes well. Do not fill the bottle with a hot emulsion and do not wash it alternately in hot and cold water, as it may crack.
