Product description

This white glass medicine bottle with a nominal volume of 10 ml and a black screw cap is designed for small quantities of cosmetics: samples of serums and facial oils, essential oil blends, perfume compositions, or travel-size versions of products that you normally fill into larger bottles. The opaque white glass hides the contents and reduces the amount of light reaching them, so it is also suitable for oils and active ingredients that are gradually damaged by light. The medicine bottle shape with a narrow neck limits how much can pour out at once and takes up minimal space in the workshop or on a shelf. The cap with an 18/410 neck finish closes the neck, so the set is ready for filling without any further purchases.

What the set is suitable for

  • Samples and testers – a small pack of cream, serum or oil for customers who want to try a product first.
  • Oil serums and essential oil blends – glass does not react with oils and the opaque wall reduces light.
  • Perfume compositions and fragrance oils – alcohol-based and oil-based perfumes in a volume that is used up before the fragrance loses its character.
  • Travel size – the screw cap holds securely even in a cosmetic bag, and the glass does not deform under the pressure of surrounding items.
  • Concentrates and active ingredients – a measured amount of extract or active ingredient for a single batch, which you prepare in advance.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and can be found in the parameters. The difference between them provides a margin for the cap, a possible dropper, and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. Fill only up to the nominal volume, never to the brim, otherwise the contents are pushed into the thread when closing and the cap does not seal.

When filling thicker serums and oils, a small funnel or a syringe without a needle helps. The contents are dispensed more precisely and the neck stays clean, which is essential for a tight seal at the thread.

Cap and dispensing

The black PP cap with an EPE liner is used for closing the bottle, and the contents are dispensed by tilting or pouring. To dispense drop by drop, choose a closure with a dropper and the same neck finish. You can find it in the Handymade range, together with ready-made combinations. For your own combination, we recommend checking the seal with your specific formulation, especially with alcohol-based and oil-based contents.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the neck would dilute the contents and cause cloudiness in oils.

Glass withstands heat, but not a sudden change in temperature. Let emulsions and balms cool to room temperature before filling, and do not pour hot contents into a bottle that has been chilled in the fridge.

With concentrated essential oils and perfumes with a high alcohol content, check how the cap liner behaves, whether it softens, absorbs the fragrance or releases colour. Glass withstands these contents, but the cap is plastic.

You can use the bottle repeatedly. After emptying it, wash it with warm water and washing-up liquid, disinfect it and dry it. Check that the liner in the cap holds and that the thread is not worn. At the end of its life, the glass goes in glass recycling and the unscrewed cap in plastics recycling.

The bottle and the cap are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is not intended for contact with food.

Frequently asked questions

Does the white glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, white glass is opaque and lets considerably less light through to the contents than clear glass. It is therefore suitable for facial oils, essential oils and serums with light-sensitive active ingredients. It does not, however, replace proper storage in a cool, dark place, as the packaging is only one layer of protection.
How much fits into the 10 ml glass bottle?
With normal filling, it holds 10 ml, which is the nominal volume of the packaging. The total brimful volume is slightly larger and can be found in the parameters; this difference provides a margin for the cap and the expansion of the contents. If you fill the bottle right up to the neck, the contents get into the thread when closing and the closure stops sealing.
Can the 10 ml glass bottle be reused?
Yes, after washing and disinfecting with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, the glass can be refilled repeatedly without any change in its properties. Check that the liner in the cap holds firmly and does not retain the scent of the previous contents. With perfumes and essential oils, it is safer to replace the cap with a new one.
Is the bottle with a plastic cap suitable for essential oils and alcohol-based perfumes?
For the glass itself, yes, neither essential oils nor alcohol damage it. The cap is made of polypropylene with an EPE liner, so with concentrated essential oils and alcohol-based compositions we recommend checking the behaviour of the liner for several weeks before filling larger quantities. If it softens or absorbs the fragrance, choose a closure with a different liner.
Can a dropper be fitted to the 10 ml bottle instead of the cap?
Yes, the bottle has an 18/410 neck finish and accepts any closure with the same neck finish, including a dropper. This combination is common for serums and oils that are dispensed drop by drop. For your own combination, check the seal and whether the dropper tube reaches deep enough towards the bottom.
