Amber Glass Bottle, White Lotion Pump, 100 ml

An amber glass medicine bottle with a capacity of 100 ml and a white lotion pump is ready-to-use packaging for creams, face lotions and thicker serums that you want to dispense without your fingers touching the contents. The dark glass dampens light, which helps protect formulations with vegetable oils, vitamins or essential oils that lose stability faster when exposed to light. The pump delivers approximately the same dose with every press, which is especially useful for makers who sell their products or give them to other people.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The certificate for direct food contact applies to the glass bottle alone; the pump does not have it, so use the set as a whole for cosmetics only.

What it is for

• Day and night creams – the pump is designed for cream consistency and protects the contents from repeated contact with fingers.
• Body and face lotions – thinner emulsions are drawn up easily through the dip tube, and the 100 ml volume corresponds to a trial or travel size.
• Thicker serums and gel creams – water-based and emulsion gels where you need a precise dose for a single use.
• Light-sensitive products – emulsions with unstable active ingredients, where the amber glass screens out some of the light.

Very thin, almost watery liquids and, conversely, solid balms are not suitable for this pump. For borderline formulations, fill a single bottle first and check that the contents are drawn up and the dose remains even.

Dispensing and filling

One press delivers approximately 0.14 ml. Body products require more presses, which can be less convenient for larger areas. In that case, consider a larger bottle with a pump that delivers a bigger dose.

The nominal volume of 100 ml is the amount the bottle is intended for with normal filling. The brimful capacity given in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dip tube and the pump mechanism. Fill to the nominal volume; if you fill to the brim, part of the contents would be pushed out through the thread when the pump is screwed on.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. It is enough to rinse the pump with warm water, pump it several times and let it drain with the head facing down. Residual water in the dip tube would otherwise dilute the first doses.

The glass withstands repeated washing and disinfection, so the bottle can be used again. With the pump it is more difficult. Residues of the previous product remain in the dip tube and mechanism and are hard to remove completely. When changing the formulation, especially for products intended for another person, it is safer to use a new pump.

Before transporting finished products, test whether the pump leaks when lying on its side. With thin formulations the risk is higher.

The pump body is made of polypropylene. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, check how the plastic behaves in contact with the contents on a single bottle before filling a larger batch. At the end of its life, sort the bottle as glass and the pump as plastic, and separate them from each other before recycling.
