Amber Glass Square Bottle, Black Cap, 30 ml

A square medicine bottle made of amber glass with a volume of 30 ml and a simple black cap is used for storing and selling smaller quantities of cosmetics that need protection from light. Amber glass reduces the amount of light passing through, so the bottle is filled mainly with face and body oils, oil-based serums, essential oil blends, perfume oils or tinctures. The glass does not absorb the scent of the contents, does not stain and can be washed repeatedly. Thanks to its square shape, the bottle stands steadily and several bottles can be placed tightly side by side.

The set consists of a bottle and a plastic 18/410 cap without a dispensing element. The cap is made of polypropylene and has an EPE liner inside that sits on the neck and seals the bottle. Packaging assembled this way suits cases where the contents are not dispensed drop by drop: samples, storage of concentrates and blends, or products that are poured from the bottle. Both parts are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is intended for cosmetics and is not declared for contact with food.

What it is used for

• Face and body oils – light speeds up the yellowing and oxidation of oils, and amber glass limits this effect.
• Essential oil blends and perfume oils – the glass does not react with concentrated fragrances, and the blend can be transferred at any time into a bottle with a dropper or sprayer.
• Tinctures, alcohol extracts and alcohol concentrates – the glass withstands alcohol and alcohol–water mixtures, and the contents stay protected from light.
• Samples and test batches – the small volume lets you divide one batch into several tests or send a sample to a customer.
• Stock of an active ingredient or concentrate – a bottle with a plain cap is easy to open and close, and the contents are poured out or taken out with a measure.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 30 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them leaves room for the cap, a dropper or pump if used, and the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. Fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you fill up to the neck, the contents overflow when the bottle is closed and the cap then seals less well.

Cap and closing

The black cap is tightened by hand, without tools. The EPE liner sits on the neck and seals the bottle. If the cap is overtightened, the liner is compressed unnecessarily and the seal does not improve. Before dispatch or transport, we recommend turning the bottle upside down and checking that the contents do not leak, especially with thin oils and alcohol-based blends.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely with the neck facing down. Residual water in an oil-based product can cause cloudiness and, in products without a preservative, is also a source of microbial growth. Disinfect the cap in the same way and let the EPE liner dry before fitting it.

The glass withstands essential oils, alcohol and solvents. The cap is plastic, so with undiluted essential oils, strongly alcohol-based blends or solvents we recommend checking the liner and the seal after a few days to see whether the plastic has been affected by the contents. With common cosmetic oils, serums and tinctures, this problem is not expected.

The bottle is suitable for repeated use. After washing and disinfection it can be filled again, and you should replace the cap when the liner loses its elasticity or stops sealing. The glass belongs in glass recycling and the cap in plastics, so separate them before disposal.
