Amber Glass Square Bottle, Black Cap, 45 ml

The 45 ml amber glass bottle with a black cap is a set for small packs of oils, serums and tinctures that are harmed by light. Amber glass limits the amount of light reaching the contents, so it is used mainly for facial and massage oils, oil serums, tinctures and diluted essential oil blends. The square shape stands stably and the bottles can be stored tightly side by side, which is useful for larger batches as well as for storing raw materials.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The bottle is made of glass, and the cap with an 18/410 neck finish is made of polypropylene with a sealing liner of foam polyethylene (EPE), which seals the neck once tightened.

What it is suitable for

• Oil serums and facial oils – the 45 ml volume suits a pack that is used up before the oil has time to lose quality.
• Essential oil blends and tinctures – dark glass slows down changes caused by light, and glass does not react with alcohol or fragrance components.
• Massage and body oils in smaller packs – samples, travel packs or gift sets.
• Storing raw materials – smaller amounts of more expensive oils or active ingredients decanted from a larger pack.

Water-based products, such as toners or hydrosols, can be filled into the bottle. With a plain cap, however, expect to dispense by pouring or decanting, and spraying requires a different closure.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for in normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck, and you can find it in the parameters. The difference between the two values is a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents may be pushed out when closing and the seal may be poorer.

Cap and dispensing

The cap is a plain one, without a dropper and without a dispensing opening. The contents are dispensed by tilting and pouring, or by decanting into a smaller container. This suits massage oils, where a larger amount is taken at once, and the storage of raw materials, where a tight seal matters most. Dispensing by the drop or spraying requires a different closure.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the packaging would put unnecessary strain on the preservative system of a water-based product, and it has no place in an anhydrous oil.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Do not pour hot contents into a cold bottle or the other way round; let the product cool at least to room temperature first. With concentrated essential oils or solvents, check how the sealing liner of the cap behaves before a larger batch. Plastics react to them differently from glass.

The bottle is intended for repeated use. Once empty, simply wash it, degrease it and disinfect it again. Check the cap at every further filling, because the liner is gradually compressed by tightening and may seal worse over time. At the end of its life, glass belongs in the glass recycling bin and the cap with plastics.
