Product description

Precise drop-by-drop dispensing and light-protected contents in one packaging: the ready-made dropper bottle set consists of a blue glass vial with a nominal volume of 30 ml and a matte black dropper with a glass tube and a glossy decorative band. It is particularly suitable for facial serums, oil blends, tinctures and concentrates – products that are applied drop by drop where precise quantities matter. Blue glass limits light exposure to the contents, which is appreciated with light-sensitive ingredients such as vegetable and essential oils or vitamin serums.

How the set works

The dropper consists of a glass tube, a flexible silicone bulb and a threaded plastic collar in a matte black finish. Pressing the bulb draws in liquid, which is then dispensed one drop at a time. This makes it easy to measure out active ingredients, essential oils or serums with a high concentration of active compounds. The tube length is matched to the height of the vial, so the contents can be used up with almost no residue.

The set is supplied as a matched pair; the dropper corresponds to the neck type of the bottle as stated in the specifications. Both the glass and the glass tube are compatible with aqueous, oil-based and alcohol-based contents.

Suitable for products such as

  • Facial serums – both aqueous and oil-based, applied at 2–4 drops per use.
  • Facial and hair oils – blue glass helps slow the effect of light on oils prone to yellowing.
  • Essential oil blends – the dropper enables precise dispensing into a diffuser, bath or carrier oil.
  • Tinctures and alcohol-based extracts – the glass and glass tube do not react with ethanol.
  • Samples and test batches – the 30 ml volume is practical for trialling a formulation before larger production.

The dropper works well for dispensing liquid and mildly viscous products. Thick gels, creams or emulsions are difficult to draw through the tube; a different closure type is more suitable for these.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume for which the vial is designed under normal filling conditions. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a margin for the dropper tube, which displaces some of the contents when screwed in, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The vial should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

When filling, leave the level below the neck so that inserting the tube does not cause overflow. With oil-based serums containing essential oils, wipe the neck before closing to prevent oil residue from interfering with the thread or the dropper bulb.

Good to know

Before first use, both the vial and the dropper are washed and disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry completely. Moisture in the vial could cause cloudiness or reduce stability in anhydrous oil-based products.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes, so the vial should not be filled with a hot phase. Fill it only once the product has cooled. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Neither component is intended for food contact, so it should not be used for edible oils or syrups.

Both the vial and the dropper are suitable for repeated use after thorough cleaning. With each refill, check the flexibility of the bulb and the seal of the screwed-in dropper.

Concentrated essential oils and strong solvents may soften the silicone bulb of the dropper with prolonged contact. Store the vial upright, not on its side or upside down. Test blends with a high proportion of essential oils in this packaging before committing to larger production.

Before recycling, separate the dropper from the vial. The glass vial is recycled as glass; the dropper is sorted according to its plastic component.

Frequently asked questions

Does the blue glass dropper bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, blue glass limits light exposure to the contents and helps protect light-sensitive ingredients such as vegetable and essential oils or vitamin serums. It is not a complete barrier, so the vial should still be stored away from direct sunlight. For long-term storage of highly sensitive ingredients, it is advisable to verify the stability of the product in the finished formulation.
How much product fits in the 30 ml glass dropper bottle?
The vial is designed to be filled to the nominal volume of 30 ml. The total volume to the brim is slightly larger, but the difference serves as a margin for the dropper tube and for expansion of the contents. If filled to the neck, some product will overflow when the dropper is screwed in.
Is the glass tube dropper suitable for essential oils and tinctures?
Yes, both the glass and the glass tube are resistant to ethanol and essential oils, so the set is suitable for alcohol-based tinctures, oil blends and fragrance concentrates. However, prolonged contact of the silicone bulb with concentrated essential oils should be kept to a minimum. The vial should therefore be stored upright, and with pure essential oils it is advisable to test the behaviour of the bulb in advance.
How is the glass dropper bottle cleaned and can it be reused?
Yes, both the vial and the dropper can be reused after washing. Rinse the vial with warm water and a mild detergent; flush the tube several times by drawing up clean water. Then disinfect both parts with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and leave to dry. Before the next fill, check that the dropper bulb has remained flexible and that the dropper seals properly.
Can a different closure be used on this vial instead of the dropper?
Yes, the vial has a standard neck type as stated in the specifications, so other closures with the same thread are also suitable, for example a cap or a pump. Ready-made vial and closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. For a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
