The waxes for candle making category offers a selection of premium plant-based waxes for container candles and pillar candles, as well as natural blends, hardeners and waxes for wax melts. Choosing the right wax affects surface smoothness, scent release and flame stability. All waxes on Handymade.sk are intended for professional and hobby use.
The difference between the types lies in hardness, shrinkage, adhesion to glass and compatibility with fragrances and dyes. Soy and coconut waxes are ideal for containers, rapeseed and palm waxes for free‑standing candles, and beeswax is a classic with an unmistakable aroma and long burn time.
Tip for chandlers: follow the manufacturer’s recommended melting, mixing and pouring temperatures. After pouring, allow the candles to cure for at least 48–72 hours before performing a burn test for optimal results.
Soy waxes are a popular choice for natural candles in glass. They provide a clean burn, smooth surface and good scent throw after cooling. They work excellently with fragrances and dyes. Try for example KeraSoy Container 4130 soy wax (5 kg).
Harder pillar waxes are designed for free‑standing candles – after cooling they release easily from the mold, do not suffer from cracking and maintain a stable shape. An excellent choice is KeraSoy Pillar 4120 soy wax (5 kg) or its 20 kg pack for larger workshops.
The EcoSoya brand offers waxes with a fine texture and excellent adhesion to glass. For container candles we recommend EcoSoya CB-Advanced soy wax (5 kg), while for pillar candles EcoSoya Pillar Blend soy wax (5 kg) is ideal. Premium appearance and excellent fragrance release.
Palm waxes create an original “icy” pattern on the candle surface and stand out for their long burn time. They are suitable for pillar candles and wax melts. Try BW C09 palm wax (5 kg) with its characteristic crystal effect.
Harder waxes for wax melts (tarts) are optimized for fragrance release without a wick – when melted in an aroma lamp they create an intense atmosphere. We recommend Ecosoya Melt for wax melts (5 kg), suitable for beginners and professionals.
Carnauba wax and candelilla wax are used as additives to increase the hardness, gloss and durability of candles. Only a small amount is needed to improve the structure and enhance flame stability. Ideal for your own blends and experiments.
Blending fragrances: add to the melted wax and stir for at least 1–2 minutes. Pouring: choose the temperature according to the type of wax and container – it affects smoothness and adhesion. Wick: test according to candle diameter, pigment and fragrance load. Cooling: ensure even cooling without drafts to minimize frosting.
The best results are achieved with soy waxes intended for container types – for example KeraSoy 4130 or EcoSoya CB-Advanced. They have excellent adhesion to glass and a clean burn.
For free‑standing candles, harder pillar waxes such as KeraSoy 4120, EcoSoya Pillar Blend or BW C09 palm wax are suitable. They ensure a firm shape and easy release from the mold.
Follow the recommended mixing temperature, allow the candle to cure for at least 48 hours and use compatible fragrance blends. If the flame is weak, choose a larger wick.
Frosting is the natural crystallization of soy wax. It is minimized by a stable pouring temperature, slow cooling and gently overheating the surface after pouring.
