Product description
This glass bottle with a capacity of 15 ml, a dropper insert and a black tamper-evident cap is used for dispensing liquid preparations drop by drop. The clear glass shows the colour and clarity of the contents, so it suits products where you want to see what is inside, or samples that are used up quickly. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics and is supplied individually, composed of three parts with a common 18/410 neck finish.
What the set consists of
- 15 ml glass bottle – clear, with an 18/410 neck finish. After washing, it can be reused.
- Dropper insert – a short polypropylene insert that is pressed into the neck of the bottle. The contents then come out drop by drop, without spilling and without fingers touching the neck.
- Black tamper-evident cap – a smooth screw cap made of PP and PE. The tamper-evident ring breaks on first opening, so the customer can see immediately whether the packaging has already been opened.
What it is suitable for
The small volume and drop-by-drop dispensing make this set suitable packaging for preparations used in quantities of a few drops. These include facial oils and beard oils, oil serums, cuticle blends, diluted fragrance blends for aroma lamps and diffusers, and tinctures and herbal extracts for cosmetic use. At 15 ml, it also works as a travel-size pack or as a sample for customers before they buy a larger volume.
Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. If you are packing a light-sensitive preparation, for example oils with a higher proportion of unsaturated fatty acids or blends containing essential oils, plan to store it in a box or out of direct sunlight. For light-sensitive blends stored for a long time, amber or blue glass is more suitable.
After the bottle is filled, the dropper insert is pressed into the neck as far as it will go and the cap is tightened over the tamper-evident ring. The ring breaks on first opening, so assemble the packaging only after filling, not in advance.
Nominal and total capacity
Two volume values are given for packaging. The nominal capacity is the volume the container is designed for under normal filling, and for this bottle it is 15 ml. The brimful capacity is the physical volume up to the top of the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper insert, which is pressed into the neck, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal capacity, not to the brim. Otherwise, part of the contents is pushed out when the dropper insert is fitted.
Good to know
Before the first filling, we recommend washing and disinfecting the glass and the plastic parts and letting them dry completely.
The dropper insert dispenses liquids with low to medium viscosity best. Thick oils such as castor oil, or blends with a higher proportion of wax, flow slowly or stop in the opening. Packaging with a pump is more suitable for these. Test how your specific formulation behaves on one piece before filling a larger series.
For contents with a high proportion of undiluted essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking how the plastic dropper insert and the cap tolerate prolonged contact with the formulation.
The set is not approved for contact with food. All three parts are certified for use with cosmetics, so the set is intended for cosmetic preparations, not for home-made oils, syrups or food extracts.
After washing, the bottle can be reused, but once the ring is broken, the tamper-evident cap no longer works as a seal. The dropper insert is harder to remove from the neck and, with repeated use, may no longer seal as well. Glass belongs in glass recycling and the plastic parts in plastics recycling.
You can find closures with the same neck type and other ready-made packaging and closure combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the seal, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
