Product description
A transparent plastic bottle with a black pump dispenser is a ready-to-use packaging and closure combination for liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic products dispensed in small amounts: liquid soaps, shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, body lotions and facial cleansing gels. The PET bottle is lightweight and shatterproof, making it suitable for the bathroom, travel and gift sets where glass would pose an unnecessary risk. Through the clear material, the colour and consistency of the contents are visible, as is the amount of product remaining.
The 100 ml volume is practical for travel-size packaging, samples, trial batches and products intended to be used within a shorter period of time. The tall, slim shape fits comfortably in the hand and takes up little space on a shelf.
How the set dispenses and seals
One press of the pump dispenses approximately 1 ml of product. With regular use, this makes it easy to estimate consumption. The user does not touch the contents with their hands, which is a hygiene advantage for water-containing products. The contents remain sealed during use — the bottle does not need to be opened or turned upside down.
- Convenient one-hand dispensing – pressing the head always releases a similar amount, without tilting the bottle.
- Black head on a clear bottle – a contrasting combination that highlights the colour of the contents and the label.
- Low weight – plastic reduces the weight of the shipment and can withstand a drop that a glass container would not.
- Dip tube with length reserve – trimmed before fitting to match the height of the bottle, so it reaches just above the bottom.
Trim the pump dip tube at an angle so that it ends just above the bottom of the bottle. The angled cut prevents the tube from suctioning against the bottom, allowing the bottle to be emptied almost completely.
Which products it suits
The pump works reliably with contents that flow freely: thin to medium-viscosity gels, liquid emulsions and surfactant-based products. Very thick creams, butters and pastes will not pass through the tube or will dispense unevenly — a jar is more suitable for those. Very thin liquids, such as tonics or hydrolats, come out of the pump in a stream, so a spray bottle serves them better.
Products with solid particles, such as scrubs with granules or salt, may clog the pump mechanism. With thicker gels, it is worth testing dispensing on a single bottle before filling an entire batch.
Clear PET allows light to pass through. Products containing sensitive plant oils, extracts or natural colorants should be stored away from direct sunlight, or a dark container should be chosen for them.
Nominal and total volume
The 100 ml figure is the nominal volume, meaning the amount the bottle is designed for when filled normally. The total volume to the brim is slightly larger, as it extends to the neck. This difference is not extra space for product. It serves as a reserve for the pump mechanism with dip tube, which displaces some of the contents when screwed on, and for expansion of the contents during temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.
What is worth knowing
- Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle and pump, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Pump the disinfectant through the pump mechanism several times as well.
- Hot-fill – PET deforms at higher temperatures. Allow the product to cool to approximately room temperature before filling; do not pour hot material into the bottle.
- Essential oils and solvents – standard cosmetic concentrations of fragrance components are tolerated by the plastic. Undiluted essential oils and products with a high proportion of solvents should not be used in plastic packaging. We recommend verifying compatibility with a specific formulation by means of a test fill.
- First use – after filling, the head must be pressed several times until the dip tube is primed and the pump begins to dispense.
- Labelling – the straight cylindrical wall is suitable for self-adhesive labels; the bottle dimensions required for label design are listed in the parameters.
- Recycling – the bottle is made of PET and the pump is made of PP-based plastic; it is advisable to separate the two parts before sorting.
The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. A certificate for food contact applies to the pump separately; the bottle does not hold this certification, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.
The bottle has a standard neck, the type of which is stated in the parameters. Additional closures with the same neck type and other ready-to-use combinations are available from Handymade. When assembling your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing performance and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
