Product description

A plastic spray bottle with a capacity of 100 ml is a ready-made bottle-and-closure combination for thin, water-based formulations applied as a fine mist: tonics, facial waters, hydrosols, hair and body sprays. The bottle is made of clear PET, which is lightweight and shatter-resistant, making it suitable for the bathroom, handbag and travel. It also shows the colour and clarity of the contents.

A white mechanical sprayer with a shiny gold collar dispenses the contents in small, even doses without propellant gas. The bottle and sprayer share the same neck type, so there is no need to check compatibility. The set is suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What products the set is suitable for

  • Tonics, facial waters and hydrosols – low-viscosity aqueous solutions are dispersed by the sprayer into a fine mist that spreads evenly across the skin without running.
  • Leave-in hair sprays – thin formulations for detangling, heat protection or hair refreshing are applied from a distance in a fine layer.
  • Body and refreshing sprays – aqueous and hydroalcoholic blends with dissolved or solubilised fragrance.
  • Room and textile fragrances – the 100 ml volume is practical for small batches and samples of larger pack sizes.

The sprayer requires thin contents. Gels, milks, thick oils and formulations with undissolved particles spray poorly: instead of a mist, a stream comes out or the nozzle becomes blocked.

How the sprayer dispenses

Each press releases a small, consistent dose, the value of which is stated in the specifications. Consumption can therefore be estimated reliably and the product is applied economically. On first use, press the head several times without product until the mechanism primes and begins spraying evenly.

The contents are drawn up through a dip tube that should reach just above the bottom of the bottle. This allows almost the entire contents to be dispensed.

If the dip tube is longer than the bottle, trim it with clean scissors at an angle so that it ends just above the bottom. An angled cut prevents the tube from suctioning against the bottom, and the bottle can be emptied almost to the last dose.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold under normal filling conditions. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is the allowance for the sprayer mechanism with dip tube, which displaces some of the contents when screwed on, and for thermal expansion of the liquid. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Filling to the neck would cause the formulation to overflow at the threads when closing, soiling the bottle and label.

What to know before filling

Before first use, wash the bottle, rinse it and sanitise it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Prime the sprayer with several doses of alcohol to sanitise the dip tube and the inside of the mechanism as well. Allow both parts to dry completely.

Clear PET does not protect the contents from light, so store finished formulations away from direct sunlight.

PET does not tolerate hot filling, so allow the contents to cool before filling. Undiluted essential oils and strong solvents may degrade the plastic. They belong in the bottle only in a finished, diluted formulation; we recommend verifying the behaviour with a test sample.

The smooth cylindrical body labels well and the dimensions needed for label design are listed in the specifications. Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying tightness, dosing and packaging behaviour with the specific formulation. An empty PET bottle is recyclable as plastic. The sprayer, made from multiple materials, should be separated from the bottle before sorting.

Frequently asked questions

What products is a 100 ml plastic spray bottle suitable for?
A 100 ml plastic spray bottle is suitable for thin, water-based and hydroalcoholic formulations applied as a fine mist. These include tonics, facial waters, hydrosols, leave-in hair sprays, body sprays and room fragrances. The contents must have low viscosity and no undissolved particles. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
Can this spray bottle be used to spray oil or gel?
Gels and thick oils cannot be sprayed with this sprayer; the mechanism is designed for thin liquids. Thicker contents come out as a stream or large droplets and may block the nozzle. Light oils and two-phase formulations sometimes disperse adequately, but the result depends on viscosity. It is therefore advisable to test the spray on a small sample first.
Does the clear PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, the clear PET bottle does not protect the contents from light. Its advantage is that the remaining amount is always visible. Formulations containing light-sensitive ingredients such as plant extracts, vitamins or natural colorants should be stored away from direct sunlight, or a dark-coloured container should be chosen instead.
Is the PET bottle with sprayer suitable for alcohol-based sprays and essential oils?
PET generally tolerates hydroalcoholic sprays with dissolved fragrance well; undiluted essential oils do not belong in it. Concentrated essential oils and strong solvents may degrade or cloud the plastic. For formulations with a high proportion of alcohol or fragrance components, we recommend filling a test sample and monitoring the bottle, seal and sprayer function for several weeks.
Can the plastic spray bottle be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the sprayer can be reused if thoroughly cleaned before refilling. The bottle only needs to be washed, rinsed and sanitised with alcohol. The sprayer should be flushed with warm water and then with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol to clean the dip tube and the inside of the mechanism. When changing the type of formulation or fragrance, it is more reliable to use a new sprayer, as residues are difficult to remove from the mechanism.
