Product description

100 ml plastic bottle with spray pump is a ready-to-use set for products applied by spraying. It consists of a transparent PET bottle and a white mechanical spray pump with a matching neck size, so both parts fit together without any additional searching. Best suited for thin aqueous and alcohol-based liquids, from toners and hydrolats to room fragrances.

PET is lightweight and shatter-resistant, making the set ideal for the bathroom, handbag, and travel, where glass would be unnecessarily heavy and fragile. The transparent wall shows the colour and clarity of the contents while also letting you see how much product remains. The tall, slim shape sits comfortably in the hand and offers plenty of space for a label.

How the set dispenses

The spray pump is operated by pressing the head with a finger. Each press delivers a small, consistent dose and disperses it into a spray, so the product is applied economically in a thin layer. The dose size is listed in the parameters and can be used to estimate how many applications a fill will last.

Before first use, press the head several times on empty until the mechanism fills with liquid. Only then will the pump dispense evenly.

The dip tube is longer than the bottle. Before fitting it for the first time, trim it at an angle so it reaches just above the bottom. The angled end will not suction to the base, and the bottle can be emptied almost completely.

Which contents the set is suitable for

  • Facial waters, tonics, and hydrolats – thin aqueous liquids that the pump disperses evenly without running down the skin.
  • Hair and body sprays – such as leave-in conditioner sprays, detangling sprays, or refreshing body sprays with low viscosity.
  • Alcohol-based preparations – hand and surface sanitising sprays or room and textile fragrances based on ethanol.
  • Technical use – thin household cleaning solutions or water for misting plants.

The pump requires a liquid with viscosity close to water. Vegetable oils, gels, and thick emulsions will not atomise: the nozzle produces a stream or the mechanism stops drawing liquid altogether. Undissolved particles — such as clays, glitter, or herb extract sediment — also cause problems by clogging the nozzle. Such contents should be filtered before filling or a different closure type should be chosen.

Filling and volume headspace

Bottles are distinguished by nominal and total volume. Nominal volume is the quantity the container is designed for under normal filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck. The difference between them is the headspace: part of the space is taken up by the spray mechanism with the dip tube, and the liquid also needs room to expand with changes in temperature.

The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Overfilling will cause the contents to spill through the neck when the pump is fitted.

PET deforms under heat. Fill only with cooled liquids. Hot filling, boiling, and sterilisation with boiling water are not suitable for this bottle.

Good to know

  • Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle with lukewarm water and rinse with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Spray alcohol through the pump several times. Allow both parts to dry completely.
  • Essential oils and solvents – PET tolerates common diluted formulations well. Concentrated essential oils, fragrance compounds at high percentages, and strong solvents such as acetone may damage or cloud the plastic. With such contents, a compatibility test on a single unit is recommended beforehand.
  • Suitability for cosmetics – both the bottle and the pump are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is intended for cosmetic and technical use; it is not approved for contact with food.
  • Other closures – closures with the same neck size (listed in the parameters) and further ready-made combinations are available from Handymade. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing, and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
  • Recycling – before disposal, separate the pump from the bottle. PET is among the most readily recyclable plastics.

Frequently asked questions

Can the 100 ml plastic bottle with spray pump be used for oils?
The plastic bottle with spray pump is not suitable for pure vegetable oils. The mechanical pump is designed for liquids with viscosity close to water and oil will not atomise into a spray. The nozzle produces a continuous stream or droplets instead. A pump bottle or dropper bottle is more practical for oils. Thin two-phase sprays should be tested in advance.
Is the 100 ml PET bottle with spray pump suitable for alcohol-based sprays?
Yes, both the PET bottle and the pump tolerate aqueous solutions of ethanol and isopropyl alcohol commonly used in hand sanitising sprays and room fragrances. A thin alcohol-based liquid also atomises very well. For formulations with a high proportion of fragrance materials or essential oils, it is recommended to check the behaviour of the plastic with a test on a single unit.
Does the transparent plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
No, transparent PET transmits light and does not protect the contents from it. Hydrolats, tonics containing plant extracts, vitamins, or natural colorants, and other light-sensitive products should be stored in a cupboard or away from direct sunlight. For very sensitive contents, a coloured container is a better choice.
Why does the spray pump on the 100 ml bottle not spray after filling?
Most commonly because the mechanism has not yet been primed with liquid. After fitting for the first time, press the head several times. If it still does not dispense, the cause is usually contents that are too thick, undissolved particles in the nozzle, or a dip tube that is kinked or suctioned to the base. Rinsing with warm water and trimming the tube at an angle will help.
Can the 100 ml plastic bottle with spray pump be refilled?
Yes, the plastic bottle with spray pump can be refilled repeatedly. Simply wash the bottle with lukewarm water and rinse with alcohol. Clean the pump by spraying warm water through it followed by ethanol or isopropyl alcohol to ensure no residue from the previous product remains in the mechanism. Both parts must dry completely before the next fill. Hot water is not suitable, as PET deforms under heat.
