Product description

A plastic bottle with a pump dispenser, 100 ml, is a ready-made combination of a clear PET bottle and a white and silver pump dispenser that delivers the same small dose with each press. It is suitable for liquid and semi-liquid products dispensed into the palm: liquid soaps, shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, body lotions, and lighter hand creams. PET is lightweight and break-resistant, making the bottle a good fit for the bathroom, by the sink, and when travelling.

The clear wall shows the colour and texture of the contents and you can always see how much product remains. The tall, slender shape takes up little shelf space and provides sufficient surface area for a label.

How the set dispenses and seals

The dispenser screws onto the bottle and draws the contents up through a dip tube from the bottom. The bottle does not open during use and the product does not come into contact with fingers. One press delivers approximately 1 ml. For hand washing this typically means one to two presses; for body lotion the amount is easy to adjust.

Works best with products of medium viscosity — gels, liquid soaps, lotions, and thinner creams. Thick creams and butters will not draw reliably through the pump. Scrubs and products containing solid particles may clog the mechanism.

Before filling, check the length of the dip tube. If it rests against the bottom of the bottle or bends, trim it with scissors at an angle so that it ends just above the bottom.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended to hold when filled normally. Total volume to the brim is slightly larger, as it includes the space up to the neck. This difference serves as a buffer for the pump mechanism with its dip tube and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

What to know before filling

  • Preparing the packaging – wash the bottle and the pump before first use, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry completely. The pump can also be disinfected on the inside by drawing the disinfectant solution through it several times.
  • Filling temperature – PET cannot withstand hot filling and will deform under heat. The product should only be filled into the bottle once it has cooled to near room temperature.
  • Material sensitivity – undiluted essential oils, fragrance compounds, and strong solvents may attack the plastic. At typical cosmetic concentrations in aqueous, surfactant-based, and emulsion products, PET is trouble-free.
  • Labelling – the straight cylindrical wall allows a label to be applied around the circumference. Bottle dimensions are listed in the product specifications.

The set is intended for cosmetic and technical products, not for food. The declaration of suitability for contact with cosmetic products applies to the bottle separately and is available on the product page. We recommend verifying the performance of the pump with the specific formulation by carrying out a trial fill.

The bottle can also be used with other closures with the same neck type. These and other ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. When assembling your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing performance, and behaviour of the packaging with the intended product.

Once empty, the PET bottle should be sorted as plastic. The pump is made of plastic and aluminium and should therefore be separated from the bottle.

Frequently asked questions

What products is the 100 ml plastic bottle with pump suitable for?
The 100 ml plastic bottle with pump is best suited for liquid and semi-liquid products of medium viscosity, such as liquid soaps, shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, and body lotions. The pump delivers approximately 1 ml per press, so the product can be dispensed comfortably with one hand. For very thick creams, butters, and scrubs with particles, a jar or tube is more appropriate.
Can the plastic bottle with pump be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the pump can be refilled after thorough cleaning. Wash the bottle with warm water and detergent, then rinse the pump by drawing through clean water followed by a disinfectant solution. Both parts must dry completely before refilling. Any water remaining in the mechanism would dilute the product and reduce its microbiological stability.
Does the clear PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, the clear PET bottle allows light to pass through and does not protect the contents from it. For standard liquid soaps, shampoos, and body lotions this is generally not an issue as long as the bottle is not left in direct sunlight. Products containing plant extracts, natural colorants, or other light-sensitive ingredients may change colour over time, so a dark packaging is more appropriate for these.
Why should the bottle with pump not be filled to the brim?
The bottle with pump should only be filled to the nominal volume of 100 ml, because the space above the fill level is needed by the pump mechanism and its dip tube. If filled to the brim, screwing on the pump would push part of the contents out through the neck and contaminate the threads. The headspace also compensates for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature.
Is the PET bottle with pump suitable for oils and alcohol-based products?
For finished cosmetic products with a standard content of oils or alcohol, the PET bottle with pump is suitable; for undiluted essential oils and strong solvents it is not. Thin oils and watery solutions are dispensed in a faster stream, which may not be convenient during use. For such contents we recommend a trial fill and monitoring the packaging for at least several weeks.
