Product description
Glass medicine bottle, black glossy, black safety cap, 30 ml
A ready-made set for dropwise dispensing: a black glossy medicine bottle with a plastic dropper insert and a safety cap. The opaque black glass blocks light, so it protects light-sensitive contents, especially essential oils and their blends, oil serums and other concentrated preparations that are used in small doses. The 30 ml volume suits products that are used up before the contents have time to oxidise.
The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food. The dropper insert and the cap do not have one, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.
What the set contains
- Glass medicine bottle 30 ml, black glossy – opaque glass with an 18/410 neck finish that withstands oil-based, alcohol-based and water-based contents without any change in appearance.
- Plastic dropper insert 18 mm, short – a PP insert that is pressed into the neck and releases the liquid drop by drop. The short version reaches only into the neck, not into the body of the bottle.
- Plastic safety cap 18/410, black smooth – a PP and PE closure with a safety lock against accidental opening.
What it is suitable for
This set is most often filled with essential oils, fragrance compositions and blends for aroma lamps or diffusers. The dropper insert measures out a few drops without pouring and without the contents touching your fingers. It is equally suitable for facial oil serums, concentrated face and hair oils, tinctures and macerated extracts that are added drop by drop to finished recipes.
With thicker oils and viscous concentrates, the dropper insert dispenses slowly. Before filling a whole batch, check how your particular formulation flows through the dropper insert.
After filling, check that the cap is tightened correctly. Essential oils and other concentrates must be kept out of the reach of children, which is why a closure with a safety lock makes sense for these products.
Filling and volume
The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold in normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the top of the neck, and you can find it in the parameters. The difference between the two forms a reserve for the dropper insert and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the dropper insert will push part of the contents out when it is pressed in.
You cannot see the liquid level through black glass. When filling, it is therefore best to measure the contents by weight or with a measuring cup rather than by eye. The dropper insert is fitted only after filling, pressed evenly into the neck, and then the cap is screwed on.
Before the first filling, wash the bottle, the dropper insert and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual moisture in an oil-based product causes cloudiness and shortens its stability.
Good to know
Do not pour hot contents into a cold bottle, as a sudden change in temperature can crack the glass. The dropper insert and the cap are made of plastic. With concentrated essential oils and solvents, check how these plastic parts behave with your particular formulation, especially during longer storage.
The bottle can be reused. Once it is empty, wash it, remove the dropper insert and clean it separately, or replace it with a new one. You can find closures and dropper inserts with the same neck type, as well as other ready-made combinations, in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your particular formulation.
At the end of its life, the components are separated: the glass goes into glass recycling, the dropper insert and the cap into plastics.
