Product description

A glass dropper bottle, blue, 10 ml is a ready-made combination of a small glass vial and a silver glossy dropper, designed for precise drop-by-drop dispensing of liquid cosmetic preparations. It is particularly suited for facial serums, oil blends and diluted essential oils, as well as active concentrates, tinctures and samples where dispensing is done in small amounts and the contents should not unnecessarily come into contact with air or fingers.

Blue glass limits light access to the contents, helping to protect sensitive ingredients such as vegetable oils, vitamins and essential oils. Glass also does not react with the contents, making it suitable for alcohol-based and oil-based preparations where plastic could be problematic. The 10 ml volume is practical for concentrated products with lower dosing, for test batches of new formulations, and for travel or gift packaging.

Key benefits

  • Precise drop-by-drop dosing – the glass tube of the dropper with a silicone bulb allows you to take exactly the amount the formulation or application requires, without spillage and without the remaining contents coming into contact with the skin.
  • Protection of contents from light – blue glass dampens part of the light radiation, so serums with vitamins, oil blends and essential oils deteriorate more slowly in it than in clear packaging.
  • Chemically neutral material – glass does not release substances into the contents and does not absorb fragrances, making it suitable for alcohol-based, water-based and oil-based preparations including concentrated essential oils.
  • A ready-made, coordinated combination – the dropper length is adapted to the height of the bottle, the tube reaches almost to the bottom and the contents can be used down to the last drops. The silver glossy cap looks neat on facial serums and gift packaging.
  • Reusable packaging – after washing and disinfecting, both the bottle and the dropper can be used again, which is particularly worthwhile when testing formulations and for small production runs.

How the set works when filling and dispensing

The dropper consists of a glass tube, a silicone bulb and a glossy aluminium cap with an internal plastic thread that screws onto the bottle neck. When closed, the tube extends into the contents and the cap seats on the neck, so the bottle seals during normal use and transport. When dispensing, the bulb is pressed, the tube is submerged in the contents and releasing the bulb draws up the desired amount. The dropper should not touch the skin or any other preparation, to prevent foreign ingredients from entering the bottle.

When filling, it is important to distinguish between nominal volume and total volume to the brim. The nominal volume is the amount for which the packaging is intended under normal filling conditions, and for this set it is 10 ml. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is always greater. The difference forms a reserve into which the dropper tube extends when closing and which allows the contents to expand slightly with temperature changes. It should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise when the dropper is fitted the contents would overflow through the neck and contaminate the thread and the cap.

When filling small volumes, it is worth using a container with a narrow spout, a syringe or a funnel with a narrow neck. This way the contents do not get onto the thread and the dropper then seals without sticky residue that over time makes opening difficult.

What is worth knowing

Before first filling, it is recommended to wash, rinse and disinfect both the bottle and the dropper with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. This applies especially to water-based preparations, which are more susceptible to contamination than anhydrous oils. When reusing, it is also necessary to rinse the inside of the tube and the bulb thoroughly so that no residue of the previous contents remains.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Hot contents should not be poured directly into the bottle from heating – allow them to cool first to approximately body temperature. With water-based and emulsion preparations, the dropper comes into contact with air and the contents each time it is used, so the formulation must be adequately preserved. Anhydrous oils and concentrated essential oils do not have this problem. However, with highly aggressive ingredients such as pure citrus or spice essential oils, it is recommended to verify the behaviour of the silicone bulb during prolonged storage.

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. It is not approved for contact with food, so it is suitable for cosmetic preparations, not for food oils or syrups. Vial is only a description of the bottle shape, not information about its use. At the end of its service life, the glass bottle is sorted as glass. The dropper is a composite material, so it is recommended to disassemble it into the glass tube, silicone bulb and aluminium cap with plastic thread before disposal.

Blue glass limits light access but is not completely opaque. For preparations with a high proportion of oxidation-sensitive oils or vitamins, we recommend storing away from direct sunlight and always with the dropper closed.

If you wish to use the bottle with a different closure, select according to the neck type stated in the specifications. Closures with the same neck type and further ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dosing precision and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the blue glass dropper bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, blue glass dampens part of the light radiation and thus slows down the degradation of light-sensitive ingredients, however it is not completely opaque. It is suitable for serums, oils and essential oils when stored indoors under normal conditions. For preparations with a high proportion of unstable oils or vitamins, we recommend storing the bottle away from direct sunlight and always keeping it closed.
How much can be poured into the 10 ml dropper bottle?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 10 ml, not to the brim. The total volume up to the neck is greater, but the reserve is taken up by the dropper tube and any expansion of the contents with temperature changes. If the bottle is overfilled, the contents will overflow through the neck when the dropper is fitted and contaminate the thread, which impairs the seal of the cap.
Is the glass dropper bottle suitable for essential oils and alcohol tinctures?
Yes, the glass dropper bottle is suitable for essential oils, oil blends and alcohol tinctures, because glass does not react with the contents and does not absorb fragrances. The only part in contact with the contents besides glass is the silicone bulb, which only touches the contents during aspiration. For concentrated aggressive essential oils, we recommend verifying its behaviour during prolonged storage.
Can the dropper bottle be washed and reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the dropper can be reused after washing and disinfection. The bottle is washed with warm water and detergent, rinsed and disinfected with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. For the dropper, the inside of the tube and the bulb must also be rinsed several times so that no previous contents remain, and all parts should be allowed to dry completely before filling.
Does a serum in a dropper bottle need to be preserved?
Yes, water-based serums and emulsions filled into a dropper bottle must be adequately preserved. Each time the dropper is used, it comes into contact with air and potentially with the skin, which can introduce microorganisms into the contents. Anhydrous oil blends and pure essential oils do not require a preservative; for these, an antioxidant is rather recommended to protect the oils from oxidation.
What other closure fits the 10 ml blue glass vial besides the dropper?
Any closure with the same neck type as stated in the specifications is suitable for the bottle, for example a screw cap or a spray pump. Ready-made combinations of the bottle with various closures can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and how the specific closure dispenses your particular formulation.
