Product description
White glass bottle, silver dropper, 10 ml
A small set for serums, facial oils and concentrated active blends that are dispensed drop by drop. The white glass bottle hides the contents from view and from light, so it suits formulations with oils prone to oxidation and with active ingredients that lose effectiveness in light. The glossy silver dropper with an 18/410 neck finish closes the bottle and also dispenses the contents, so you do not need any other tool to measure a dose.
The 10 ml volume suits products that are used up quickly or used in small amounts: eye serum, cuticle oil, a facial blend with a high proportion of active ingredients, customer samples or test batches when developing a formulation. Both the bottle and the dropper are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. The set is not intended for food.
What the set is suitable for
- Facial oils and oil-based serums – glass does not react with oils and the opaque white wall protects sensitive oils from daylight.
- Serums and concentrates with active ingredients – the dropper dispenses a few drops precisely, which saves the contents and the skin when using more expensive or stronger ingredients.
- Blends of essential oils in a carrier oil – the opaque packaging and small volume suit products that are added drop by drop to a bath, massage oil or aroma diffuser.
- Tinctures and alcohol extracts for cosmetic use – the glass tube of the dropper and the bottle withstand alcohol without any change in the appearance or scent of the contents.
- Samples and development batches – 10 ml is enough to try out a formulation with a customer or for a stability test of several variants side by side.
How the dropper works
The dropper consists of an aluminium shell, a plastic thread with a seal, a silicone bulb and a glass tube. Squeezing the bulb and releasing it while the tube is in the contents draws the product into the tube. Gently squeezing the bulb over your palm or face then dispenses the product drop by drop.
The aluminium shell holds its shape and gives the closure strength. The glossy silver finish combines well with white glass, so the set can be included in a uniform product line without further modifications.
Screw the dropper onto the bottle, tightening it only moderately by hand. Excessive force can damage the thread or the seal, and the packaging will then leak when turned upside down.
Nominal volume and brimful volume
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 10 ml, not to the neck. The brimful volume is the physical space up to the neck. The difference between the two values forms a reserve into which the glass tube of the dropper is immersed after screwing on, and room for the contents to expand with temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the brim, part of the product is pushed out when the dropper is fitted and the neck stays greasy or sticky.
A syringe without a needle or a funnel with a narrow spout has proven effective for filling the narrow neck. Fill thicker serums slowly so that air does not become trapped in the lower part of the bottle.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the dropper, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Disinfection also applies to the inside of the glass tube through which the product flows with every use. The glass can be reused after washing out oil residues with warm water and washing-up liquid and disinfecting again.
Allow hot blends to cool to approximately room temperature before filling. A sudden temperature change can crack the glass, and a warm product changes volume as it cools, so the measured dose does not correspond to the nominal volume.
The silicone bulb withstands common oils and alcohol. For formulations with a high proportion of pure essential oils or with solvents, we recommend first checking the behaviour of the bulb and seal in the specific formulation.
Do not leave the contents drawn into the tube of the dropper for long periods. After use, release the bulb so that the product returns to the bottle and does not dry inside the tube or at its tip.
For recycling, the bottle belongs with glass. The dropper combines aluminium, plastic, silicone and glass, so unscrew it from the bottle before disposal and sort it according to local options.
You will find closures with the same neck type and ready-made packaging + closure combinations in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend checking the seal, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
