Product description

The blue glass bottle with a fine mist sprayer is a ready-made set for toners, hydrosols, facial and hair mists and other thin preparations that are applied by spraying. The blue glass filters light, which helps protect contents containing plant extracts or fragrance ingredients that lose their effect and scent more quickly in light. The sprayer disperses each dose into a fine mist, so the product is applied evenly and without your hands touching the neck of the bottle.

The set consists of a medicine bottle with a nominal volume of 100 ml and a white and silver plastic fine mist sprayer with a glossy overcap. The two parts are matched to each other: the sprayer screws onto the bottle and begins dispensing after a few presses. Glass does not absorb fragrances or dyes from the contents, so after washing the bottle can be used for a different formulation.

What the set is suitable for

  • Facial toners and mists – water-based solutions with active ingredients, applied in a thin layer after cleansing and left to dry.
  • Hydrosols – rose, lavender or cornflower water is better protected from light in dark glass, and small doses reduce waste.
  • Hair and body sprays – thin water-based or lightly alcohol-based formulations to refresh hair, scalp and body.
  • Room and fabric fresheners – water-based sprays with a solubilised fragrance ingredient, whose consistency stays close to that of water.

Filling and dispensing

The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling, and it should be filled only up to this level. The brimful volume stated in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference provides room for the sprayer’s dip tube, the air above the liquid and the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. A bottle filled to the brim will overflow when the sprayer is screwed on.

One press releases approximately 0.14 ml, which for a full bottle works out at over 700 doses as a rough guide. The dip tube should reach just above the bottom of the bottle. If it bends or rests on the bottom when you fit it, shorten it with a straight cut using sharp scissors.

The sprayer is intended for liquids with a viscosity close to that of water. Oils, thicker serums, emulsions and products containing a thickener will not spray into a mist; they come out in a stream or gradually clog the nozzle.

Good to know

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not declared for contact with food, so it is not suitable for homemade syrups, oils or herbal infusions intended for consumption.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with clean water by spraying several times, then spray empty to expel any remaining water from the mechanism.

Follow the same procedure for repeated use after each time the bottle is emptied. Dried residues of the product in the nozzle are the most common cause of weak or uneven spraying.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Let contents that were heated during production cool down before filling, and do not move the bottle straight from the cold into hot water.

You can find closures with the same neck finish as stated in the parameters, as well as other ready-made bottle and closure combinations, in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

The bottle belongs in glass recycling. The sprayer combines polypropylene with aluminium, so before disposal separate it from the bottle and discard it as a plastic closure.

Frequently asked questions

Does the blue glass bottle with a fine mist sprayer protect the contents from light?
Yes, blue glass filters part of the light, so the contents age more slowly than in clear glass. It is not complete protection, so do not store a bottle with a hydrosol or toner in direct sunlight or on a windowsill. For preparations with highly sensitive ingredients, dark glass kept in a dark place remains the most reliable combination.
How much does the 100 ml bottle with a fine mist sprayer hold, and how far should it be filled?
Fill the bottle up to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the brim. The brimful volume is higher and is stated in the parameters, but the difference serves as room for the sprayer’s dip tube and the air above the liquid. If you fill it to the neck, the contents will overflow when the sprayer is screwed on and the mechanism will not draw up the liquid as well.
Can this sprayer be used to spray oil or a thick serum?
No, the sprayer is intended for thin, watery liquids. Pure vegetable oils and thick serums will not spray into a mist; they come out in drops or a stream and the nozzle gradually clogs. For oil serums we recommend a bottle with a dropper or a pump, and for thin dry oils test a small sample first.
How do I clean a glass bottle with a fine mist sprayer before reusing it?
Wash the bottle in warm water with washing-up liquid, rinse it, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry upside down. To rinse the sprayer, screw it onto a bottle of clean water and spray several times, then spray empty. Leave any remaining water in the dip tube to evaporate before filling with new contents.
Is the sprayer suitable for alcohol-based toners and hydrosols?
For hydrosols and ordinary water-based toners, yes; the set is designed for these contents. For toners with a higher proportion of alcohol or a larger amount of essential oils, check on a small sample whether, after several days, the sprayer still seals and sprays as well as it did at the start. Always confirm resistance to your specific formulation with your own test.
