Product description

The amber plastic bottle with a fine mist sprayer is intended for liquid cosmetic products that are sprayed onto the skin or hair or into the air: facial toners and hydrosols, hair sprays, body mists, and fragrance or disinfectant sprays containing alcohol. The 30 ml volume is enough for a trial batch, a customer sample or a handbag-size pack.

The bottle is shaped like a medicine bottle and is made of PET. It is light and, unlike glass, does not break when dropped. The amber colour dampens light, so light-sensitive contents, such as hydrosols with plant extracts or blends with essential oils, stay in good condition longer than in clear packaging. The sprayer has a glossy white and silver finish that gives the set a coherent look without any further decoration.

Suitable uses

  • Facial toners and hydrosols – water-based solutions without thickeners spray evenly. A fine mist spreads over the face without a cotton pad.
  • Hair sprays and refreshers – thin solutions for smoothing hair or hydrating sprays for curly hair, where a small amount per press is ideal.
  • Sprays containing alcohol – body and room fragrances, disinfectant sprays for hands or for a yoga mat. PET normally tolerates diluted alcohol solutions; with a higher alcohol content, check compatibility on a single piece first.
  • Samples and travel packs – a small volume lets you quickly try out a new formulation or hand out testers without using up a more expensive raw material on a large batch.

Filling and dispensing

The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The bottle should therefore be filled up to the nominal volume, not to the brim of the neck. The remaining space up to the neck is a reserve for the sprayer’s dip tube and for slight expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. An overfilled bottle overflows when the sprayer is screwed on, and part of the contents is left on the thread.

One press of the sprayer releases approximately 0.14 ml. That is enough for one spritz of the face or to refresh the hair. On first use, press the sprayer several times to prime it until the dip tube fills and the mist comes out evenly. The dip tube is longer than the bottle, so it bends at the bottom. If it gets in the way, shorten it with a diagonal cut so that it ends just above the bottom.

The sprayer works reliably only with thin, watery or alcohol-based preparations. Gels, thick serums and emulsions clog it, and pure oil comes out of it as a stream instead of a mist. We recommend testing the behaviour of your specific formulation on a single piece before filling the whole batch.

Good to know

The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The bottle on its own is certified for direct food contact; the sprayer is not. The set as a whole is therefore intended for cosmetics.

Before the first filling, rinse the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water would dilute the contents and, in products without a preservative, shorten their shelf life. The same procedure applies to repeated use. In addition, rinse the dip tube and the sprayer nozzle with clean water so that no residues of the previous contents remain in them.

PET tolerates common cosmetic water-based and alcohol-based solutions. However, undiluted essential oils, higher concentrations of fragrance compositions and solvents put a strain on the plastic. With such contents, check compatibility on a single piece and watch whether the bottle turns cloudy or soft.

Do not fill the PET bottle with hot contents and do not leave it in the sun or near a heat source. Heat deforms the plastic, and the neck may then no longer seal. Fill toners and hydrosols only after they have cooled to room temperature.

Closures with the same neck finish as stated in the parameters, and other ready-made bottle + closure combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the seal and the dispensing with your specific formulation. At the end of its life, dispose of the bottle in plastic recycling as PET. The sprayer combines polypropylene with aluminium, so unscrew it from the bottle before disposal.

Frequently asked questions

Does the amber PET bottle with a sprayer protect the contents from light?
Yes, the amber colour of the PET dampens the passage of light and slows down changes in contents that react to light. It is therefore suitable for hydrosols, toners with plant extracts or sprays with essential oils. The protection is partial, not complete, so store the filled packaging away from direct sunlight.
How much fits into the 30 ml bottle with a sprayer?
The bottle is filled up to the nominal volume of 30 ml, not to the brim of the neck. The space above this level stays free for the sprayer’s dip tube and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If it is filled up to the neck, part of the contents overflows when the sprayer is screwed on and the thread stops sealing properly.
Can the bottle with a sprayer be used for toners and sprays containing alcohol?
Yes, both the PET bottle and the polypropylene sprayer tolerate diluted alcohol solutions, such as those used in body mists, room fragrances or disinfectant hand sprays. With a high proportion of fragrance composition or undiluted essential oils, check compatibility on a single piece. Concentrated oils can cloud or soften the plastic over time.
Is the 30 ml plastic bottle with a sprayer suitable for contact with food?
The set as a whole is not approved for contact with food. Only the bottle itself has the certificate; the sprayer does not. For cosmetic products, the set is declared as suitable. If you need packaging for food use, choose a closure for the bottle that also has a food-contact certificate.
How do I prepare the bottle with a sprayer before the first filling, and can it be reused?
Before the first filling, rinse the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with clean water and pump it several times so that the water runs out of the tube. It can be reused with the same procedure for as long as the bottle seals and the nozzle sprays evenly.
