Product description

The blue glass bottle with a fine mist sprayer, 10 ml, is used for filling small volumes of liquid cosmetic products that are applied as a spray. It is suitable for hydrosols, facial toners, refreshing face mists, perfumed waters and samples of your own products that you want to give to customers or friends to try. Blue glass lets through less light than clear glass, which you will appreciate especially with hydrosols and products containing essential oils. The bottle and the sprayer are supplied as a ready-made pair, so there is no need to check whether they fit together.

What it is suitable for

  • Hydrosols and toners – water-based products applied as a spray to the face or hair. A volume of 10 ml is enough for several days of use or as a travel size.
  • Perfumed waters and body sprays – the small dose of the sprayer lets you apply fragrance a little at a time, without spilling.
  • Samples and testers – when launching a new product or selling at markets, 10 ml is a sensible volume for trying it out without much risk.
  • Travel size – a bottle with a sprayer takes up minimal space in a bag and can be refilled repeatedly.

How to use it

With one press, the sprayer releases approximately 0.14 ml of the contents. This dose is suitable for a fine spray of low-viscosity liquids, that is water, hydrosols, toners and alcohol-based solutions. Thicker or oily contents spray less well, may come out as a jet instead of a mist and over time can clog the mechanism. For such formulations, we recommend testing the spray on a small sample before you fill a larger batch.

The bottle has a nominal volume of 10 ml; the brimful capacity can be found in the parameters. The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for during normal filling. The brimful capacity is the physical space up to the neck. For this reason, fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise part of the contents would be pushed out when you screw on the sprayer with its dip tube.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with clean water and press it several times without any contents so that the remaining water runs out of the dip tube.

Good to know

Both the bottle and the sprayer are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The declaration of conformity and the technical documentation are available with the product. The set is not intended for contact with food, so do not use it for homemade syrups or infusions intended for consumption.

The sprayer is made of polypropylene and aluminium. For contents with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, or for strongly acidic and alkaline solutions, we recommend checking that the plastic does not soften, turn cloudy or release colour. Glass is resistant to common cosmetic ingredients, but do not pour hot contents into it.

The packaging can be used repeatedly. Before refilling, clean it in the same way as before the first use, so that residues of the previous product do not mix with the new one. Store it upright with the sprayer tightened.

Do not decant unpreserved contents, for example a pure hydrosol without added preservative, into a bottle that has not been disinfected beforehand. A small volume is used up slowly, and contamination during filling shows up sooner than in larger packs.

Before disposal, separate the glass and the sprayer, as they are sorted separately.

You can find ready-made combinations of this bottle with a sprayer, cap or dropper in the Handymade range. If you want to combine the bottle with a different closure, go by the neck finish given in the parameters and check the seal with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the blue glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Blue glass lets through less light than clear glass, but it is not complete protection like opaque packaging. For this reason, store a bottle containing a hydrosol or a product with essential oils away from direct sunlight. For normal use in the bathroom or in a bag, blue glass is sufficient.
How much does the sprayer on the 10 ml glass bottle release with one press?
With one press, the sprayer releases approximately 0.14 ml. From a full bottle containing 10 ml, you therefore get roughly 70 doses. The actual number depends on the thickness of the contents and on whether the mechanism is pressed fully each time. With thicker liquids, the dose is usually smaller and the spray is poorer.
Can I put oil in the glass bottle with a sprayer?
Pure oil is not suitable for this sprayer. The mechanism is designed for low-viscosity liquids; oil comes out of it as a jet instead of a mist and can clog the nozzle. A bottle with a dropper is suitable for oils. If you want to spray oil-based contents, test them on a small sample first.
Why is the glass bottle with a sprayer not filled to the brim?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 10 ml, because the dip tube of the sprayer takes up the remaining space up to the neck. If you filled it to the brim, part of the liquid would be pushed out when you screw on the sprayer, and the contents could leak through the thread.
Is the glass bottle with a sprayer suitable for alcohol-based contents?
Yes, alcohol-based solutions, such as perfumed waters or tinctures for external use, can be filled into the glass, and the sprayer sprays them well. With a higher alcohol content combined with essential oils, we recommend checking after a few days that the plastic parts of the sprayer have not changed in appearance or started to leak.
Can I reuse the glass bottle with a sprayer for a different product?
Yes, the packaging is intended for repeated use. Wash the bottle, disinfect it with alcohol and leave it to dry. Rinse the sprayer with clean water and press it several times without any contents so that residues of the previous contents are cleared from the dip tube and the nozzle. With strongly scented products, an odour can remain in the plastic and transfer to the new contents.
