Product description

This 50 ml glass bottle with a sprayer is designed for liquid cosmetic products applied by spraying: facial toners, hydrosols, refreshing mists, hair sprays or alcohol-based perfume waters. The green glass filters out part of the light, so it also suits contents with plant extracts or essential oils, which lose their scent and colour faster in direct sunlight. The set consists of a medicine bottle with an 18 mm neck and a mechanical sprayer in a glossy white and gold finish, which screws onto the neck and closes the bottle at the same time.

Both the bottle and the sprayer are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

What it is suitable for

  • Toners and hydrosols – low-viscosity water-based solutions pass through the tube and nozzle without resistance and disperse into a fine mist.
  • Eaux de parfum and eaux de toilette – alcohol-based formulas are typical contents for a sprayer, and glass does not react with alcohol or fragrance components.
  • Hair and body sprays – light products without an oil base, applied over a larger area.
  • Travel and sample packaging – the 50 ml volume corresponds to a smaller pack for trying out a product or carrying in a handbag.

The sprayer cannot handle thick oils, creamy emulsions or products with a thickener. The nozzle either fails to push them out or sprays them in droplets instead of a mist. A bottle with a dropper or a pump is more suitable for such contents.

How the sprayer dispenses

The fine mist sprayer draws the contents up through a tube from the bottom of the bottle and releases approximately 0.14 ml with a single press. When using it for the first time, press it several times to prime it until the tube fills. This dose suits skin and hair, where the product is applied in a thin layer and should not run.

If the formulation contains insoluble particles, for example plant residues from an infusion, filter it before filling. Small particles clog the nozzle and the sprayer then dispenses unevenly.

Filling and volume

The nominal volume of 50 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful capacity is the physical volume of the glass up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the sprayer tube, which pushes part of the liquid level upwards when screwed in, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle overflows when the sprayer is fitted and the contents get into the thread.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes well. Let hot contents cool before filling, and do not wash the bottle alternately with cold and boiling water.

Good to know

  • Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Rinse the sprayer by spraying clean alcohol through it several times.
  • Sprayer material – the sprayer combines PP plastic and aluminium. For contents with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking beforehand that the plastic parts remain tight over the long term.
  • Recycling – glass belongs in glass recycling. The sprayer consists of plastic and aluminium, so separate it from the bottle before disposal.

You will find closures and other ready-made combinations for bottles with the same neck type in the Handymade range. If you combine packaging and closure yourself, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Is the green glass bottle with a sprayer suitable for hydrosols and toners?
Yes, low-viscosity water-based solutions are the most suitable contents for this set. The sprayer disperses them into a fine mist and the glass does not react with the contents. However, hydrosols and toners without a preservative spoil in this bottle just as they would in any other packaging, as the sprayer does not replace preservation of the contents.
Can I fill the sprayer bottle with oil?
No, the fine mist sprayer is not suitable for pure oils and oil-based serums. The nozzle cannot disperse thick contents into a mist, so they come out in droplets or the mechanism jams. A bottle with a dropper or a pump is more suitable for oil-based products. Light alcohol-based solutions with a smaller proportion of oil should be tested beforehand.
Does green glass protect the contents from light?
Partially. The green colour filters out part of the light that passes through the wall of the bottle, but it is not complete protection. We recommend storing light-sensitive products, for example those with essential oils or plant extracts, away from direct sunlight even in this bottle.
How much liquid fits into the 50 ml bottle with a sprayer?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 50 ml. The physical volume up to the brim is slightly larger and is given in the parameters, but this space remains as a reserve for the sprayer tube and for the expansion of the contents. If you fill it up to the neck, the contents overflow when the sprayer is screwed in.
Can I reuse the bottle with a sprayer?
Yes, after washing and disinfecting with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, the glass can be filled again. Rinse the sprayer by spraying clean alcohol through it. When changing the contents, bear in mind that traces of the previous product remain in the tube and nozzle, which affects the first doses of fragrance blends.
Is the set suitable for food, for example syrups or herbal infusions?
No, the set is not declared for contact with food. Both the bottle and the sprayer have a declaration of suitability for cosmetic products and are intended for that purpose. For food use, choose packaging whose parameters state suitability for contact with food.
