Product description
This amber plastic medicine bottle with a volume of 100 ml and a white and gold fine mist sprayer is designed for liquid preparations applied by spraying: face and hair toners, hydrosols, refreshing face and body sprays, alcohol-based solutions and room fragrances with a water or alcohol base. The amber colour of the bottle dampens light and helps protect light-sensitive contents, for example hydrosols with added essential oils or toners with vitamins. The bottle is made of PET, is light and does not break, which is useful for sprays carried in a handbag, taken on trips or used in the bathroom. The sprayer sits on the neck of the bottle, and the set arrives matched and ready for filling.
What the set is suitable for
- Toners and hydrosols – thin water-based preparations are dispersed by the sprayer into a mist of fine droplets that spreads evenly over the skin without rubbing in.
- Hair and body sprays – light water-based solutions with humectants, extracts or solubilised fragrance, where even application over a larger area matters.
- Alcohol solutions – alcohol-based perfume sprays, fabric and air fresheners and other low-viscosity solutions.
- Samples and travel packs – the 100 ml volume and unbreakable material suit smaller batches for trying out a recipe or for travelling.
How the set dispenses
The sprayer works like a pump. Pressing the head draws the contents up through the dip tube and the nozzle disperses them into a mist. One press releases approximately 0.14 ml, so you can estimate how many doses your customer will get from one filling. The dip tube reaches the bottom of the bottle, so almost all of the contents can be sprayed out. Before first use, press the head several times to prime the sprayer until the tube fills and mist starts to come out.
The nominal volume of the bottle is the volume the packaging is designed for during normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference leaves room for the sprayer dip tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim.
Fill the bottle to approximately 100 ml and only then screw on the sprayer. When inserted, the dip tube pushes the liquid level up, and in an overfilled bottle the contents would overflow through the neck.
The sprayer is intended for thin liquids. Oils, oil serums, emulsions and thicker gels either do not pass through the nozzle or run out of it as a stream instead of a mist, and the mechanism gradually becomes clogged.
Do not fill this set with pure oils or with cream or gel preparations. For oil products, the Handymade range includes bottles with a dropper or a pump.
Good to know
- Preparation before first filling – rinse the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Spray alcohol through the sprayer, rinse it with distilled water and let it dry so that no liquid remains in the tube.
- PET and heat – fill the bottle with contents that have cooled down. Hot solutions could deform the wall of the bottle and affect the seal on the neck.
- Essential oils and solvents – with a higher proportion of essential oils or other solvents, we recommend checking how the packaging behaves with your specific formulation. After a few days, check the wall of the bottle, the tightness of the thread and whether the nozzle is still clear.
- Contact with cosmetics and food – the set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Only the bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food, so the set with the sprayer is intended for cosmetics.
- Reuse – after cleaning and disinfection, the bottle can be filled again. The sprayer is harder to clean on the inside, so when changing to a recipe with a strong fragrance or colour it is often better to replace it.
- Other closures – other closures with the same neck type also fit the neck. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your formulation.
- Recycling – once empty and with the sprayer removed, the PET bottle belongs with plastics. The sprayer combines PP and aluminium and is disposed of separately.
