Product description

This amber plastic medicine bottle with a capacity of 115 ml and a white and gold fine mist sprayer is ready to be filled with face and hair sprays, toners, hydrosols and other liquid cosmetic products that are applied by spraying. The neck finish of the bottle and the sprayer match, so once filled you only need to tighten the closure and the product can go to the customer.

The PET bottle is lightweight and does not break when dropped, which you will appreciate for products that are carried in a handbag, taken to the bathroom or sent by post. The amber colouring of the plastic reduces light transmission and helps protect light-sensitive contents, for example products with hydrosols, plant extracts or vitamins. The glossy gold and white sprayer gives the product an appearance that suits both face and hair cosmetics.

What the set is suitable for

  • Face toners and hydrosols – low-viscosity water-based products are sprayed evenly and applied directly to the face without hands coming into contact with the contents.
  • Hair sprays and leave-in conditioners – thin solutions and light emulsions for hair, as long as they are neither thick nor sticky.
  • Refreshing and soothing sprays – for example after-sun sprays, body sprays or sprays to freshen up during the day.
  • Alcohol-based products – body fragrances, face toners containing alcohol and other solutions based on ethanol.
  • Home fragrances – room or fabric sprays, if they are dissolved in water or in alcohol.

The sprayer is designed for liquids with a viscosity close to that of water. Thick serums, gels and pure oils are sprayed poorly or not at all with it, so other closures are more suitable for these contents.

Use and filling

Before the first filling, we recommend washing the bottle and the sprayer, disinfecting them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leaving them to dry completely. Residual water could affect the stability of a product that has no preservation or only weak preservation.

The nominal capacity of 115 ml is the amount the bottle is intended for in normal filling. The total capacity up to the rim of the neck is always slightly larger. The difference provides room for the dip tube and the valve of the sprayer and also space for the contents to expand when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill up to the nominal capacity, not up to the neck.

Before first use, prime the sprayer by pressing it several times until the dip tube and the valve fill with the contents. Only then will it start to dispense evenly.

The dip tube of the sprayer reaches all the way to the bottom of the bottle, so the contents can be emptied almost completely. If you want to combine the bottle with another closure with the same type of neck, check the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation beforehand. You can find ready-made sets and closures sold separately in the Handymade range.

Good to know

One press of the sprayer dispenses approximately 0.14 ml. From this you can estimate the number of doses in one bottle and the amount of active ingredient that reaches the skin in a single application.

For products with a higher proportion of essential oils or with organic solvents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the plastic on a small sample, as some ingredients may soften or cloud the plastic over time. The bottle is not intended for filling with hot contents, so let products cool to room temperature before filling. Store finished products away from direct sunlight and heat, even though amber plastic absorbs part of the light.

The amber bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact. The sprayer has no such assessment, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products, not for filling with food.

Both the bottle and the sprayer are declared as suitable for use with cosmetic products. You can find the declarations of conformity with the individual components of the set.

After thorough washing, the bottle can be used repeatedly. Between different contents, rinse the sprayer with clean water and then with alcohol, so that no residues of the previous formulation remain in the tube and the valve, which could change the fragrance or cloud the new contents. For disposal, the PET bottle belongs in plastic waste. The sprayer combines polypropylene with an aluminium collar, so separate it from the bottle when sorting.

Frequently asked questions

Does the amber plastic medicine bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the amber colouring of the PET reduces light transmission and lessens its effect on the contents. However, the protection is not as complete as with opaque packaging, so store finished products with sensitive ingredients away from direct sunlight. For toners, hydrosols and sprays with plant extracts, amber plastic is a better choice than clear packaging.
Can the 115 ml bottle with sprayer be filled with oil?
Pure oil is applied poorly with this sprayer, because the mechanism is designed for liquids with a viscosity close to that of water. Light oils may spray unevenly or drip, and thicker oils will not pass through the nozzle. For oil-based products, choose a dropper or a cap instead.
Is the set with the sprayer suitable for alcohol-based toners and sprays?
Yes, both PET and polypropylene tolerate water and alcohol solutions of the kind commonly used in toners, refreshing sprays or home fragrances. With a high concentration of essential oils or other solvents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the plastic on a small sample, because some ingredients may cloud or soften the packaging over time.
How much liquid should be poured into the 115 ml medicine bottle?
Fill up to the nominal capacity of 115 ml, not up to the neck. The space above this level is a reserve for the dip tube of the sprayer and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the contents will overflow when the sprayer is fitted, or may press on the closure when warmed.
Is the set with the amber bottle and sprayer suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is not intended for contact with food. Only the amber bottle itself has a certificate for direct food contact, and the sprayer has no such assessment. The whole set is declared as suitable for cosmetic products, and we recommend using it for them.
How do I clean the sprayer for repeated use?
Fit the sprayer onto a bottle of clean water and press it several times, then repeat the procedure with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. This clears the tube and the valve of residues of the previous contents. Leave the parts to dry completely, so that no residual water gets into the new formulation.
