Product description
The amber plastic medicine bottle made of PET, with a volume of 50 ml and a fitted white and gold fine mist sprayer, is a ready-to-use set for your own toners, facial mists, hair sprays and other thin preparations applied by spraying. The amber colour of the plastic reduces light transmission, so it also suits contents with plant extracts, hydrosols or vitamins, which lose their effectiveness faster in light.
The bottle is made of PET, so it is lightweight and resistant to breakage. It fits in a handbag and is handy for travel and in the bathroom. The sprayer with an 18/415 neck finish combines plastic and aluminium. The glossy white top with a gold collar looks understated and needs no further decoration. The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.
What the set is suitable for
- Facial toners and mists – water-based solutions and hydrosols are dispensed evenly, without fingers touching the contents.
- Hair sprays – light hair waters, and water-based sprays that add volume or shine.
- Air fresheners and fragrance sprays – room sprays and body mists with a lower proportion of fragrance.
- Disinfectant and alcohol-based solutions – thin solutions for hands or for disinfecting tools. With a higher alcohol content, check how the packaging behaves with your specific formulation.
- Samples and travel packs – the 50 ml volume also works as a trial pack for customers.
How the set dispenses
The sprayer works mechanically, without a propellant. One press releases a small dose, which is dispersed into a fine mist. The dip tube allows the bottle to be emptied even when tilted, as long as its end stays below the surface of the liquid. The best results come from thin, water-like contents: hydrosols, toners, weak alcohol solutions, or water-based solutions with a proportion of glycerine. Thick serums, gels and oils are not dispersed into a mist by the sprayer. Oils tend to come out as a stream or drops, and the mechanism may become clogged.
Before the first filling, check the length of the dip tube. If it extends past the bottom of the bottle and bends, shorten it with an angled cut so that it just touches the bottom. Otherwise an unused remainder of the contents is left at the bottom.
Nominal and total volume
The 50 ml figure is the nominal volume, that is, the amount the bottle is intended to hold in normal filling. The physical volume up to the rim of the neck is larger. The difference provides room for the dip tube and the sprayer mechanism, which takes up part of the space once screwed on, and also for slight expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Therefore, fill only up to the nominal volume, not up to the rim. An overfilled bottle overflows when the sprayer is screwed on, and the sprayer may not draw liquid correctly.
Good to know
Preparation before filling. Before first use, rinse the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leave them to dry completely. After disinfection, spray clean water through the sprayer several times and then spray it empty, so that no alcohol residue remains in the tube.
Heat and hot filling. PET deforms with heat. Pour in the contents only after they have cooled to room temperature, and do not store the finished pack near heat sources or in direct sunlight.
Essential oils and solvents. PET normally tolerates diluted alcohol and water-based solutions. Undiluted essential oils, strong solvents and preparations with a high proportion of fragrance may damage the plastic over time. For such contents, we recommend testing the behaviour of the bottle and the tightness of the sprayer on a single piece before larger production.
Reuse. After thorough washing and disinfection, the set can be used again. When changing the recipe, replace the sprayer or rinse it with warm water and washing-up liquid and spray it through. Residues of the previous contents could otherwise contaminate the new product.
Preserving the contents. The sprayer limits contact of the contents with fingers, but water-based preparations still need a suitable preservative. The packaging alone does not protect against microbial growth.
Other closures. The bottle has a neck with a G18x3 thread. You can find further closures with the same neck type, as well as ready-made combinations, in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend testing tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
Only the bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact. The set with the sprayer is intended as a whole for cosmetics and is not used for food purposes.
Recycling. The bottle is made of PET and belongs with plastics. The sprayer combines plastic with aluminium, so separate it from the bottle before sorting.
