Product description

The white plastic bottle with a capacity of 10 ml and a white and gold fine mist sprayer is intended for small packs of thin liquids applied as a mist: facial toners and hydrolates, refreshing face and body sprays, hair waters or alcohol-based perfume waters. The size is handy for a handbag or for travel, and it also lets you hand out samples of your own formulation without filling a large bottle.

The bottle has the shape of a pharmaceutical bottle and is made of PET, so it is light and does not break when dropped. The white plastic hides the contents, so direct light does not reach the filling. The sprayer with an 18/415 neck finish screws onto the neck and produces a fine mist when pressed. The glossy white and gold finish matches the white body of the bottle, which suits perfume samples or small gifts, for example.

What the set is suitable for

  • Toners and hydrolates – the sprayer disperses water-based solutions evenly and applies them directly to the skin without hand contact, which saves the contents in a small pack.
  • Alcohol-based sprays and perfume waters – ten millilitres corresponds to a common travel or trial pack.
  • Hair and body refreshers – light water-based mixtures with hydrolates, glycerine or solubilised essential oils.
  • Samples and testing of formulations – before larger production, you can check the fragrance, stability and behaviour of the filling in the sprayer.

Volume and filling

The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling. The total volume up to the neck is slightly larger. The difference forms a reserve for the tube and the sprayer mechanism, which take up part of the space once screwed in, and for the expansion of the filling when the temperature changes. Therefore, fill the bottle up to the nominal volume. If you fill it up to the neck, the filling will overflow after the sprayer is fitted.

With one press, the sprayer dispenses approximately 0.14 ml. A full bottle therefore yields about 70 presses.

The sprayer tube is longer than the bottle. Before the first assembly, shorten it with a sharp knife so that it reaches just above the bottom and does not bend. A bent tube draws poorly and part of the contents remains at the bottom.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Rinse the sprayer mechanism by spraying pure alcohol or boiled water through it several times, and then let it drain.

The fine mist sprayer is intended for liquids with low viscosity. It will not spray pure vegetable oils, oil serums or thick solutions into a mist. For such fillings, a dropper or a pump for the same neck type is more suitable.

PET tolerates both water-based and alcohol-based fillings. With a higher proportion of undiluted essential oils, fragrance compositions or solvents, we recommend checking how the bottle behaves with your specific formulation over several weeks: watch for cloudiness, change of shape and the smell of the plastic. Let the filling cool before pouring it into the bottle; never pour it in hot.

Only the bottle has a certificate for direct food contact. The sprayer does not have one, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetic products. Both components are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.

The bottle can be reused after washing and disinfection. The sprayer can as well, provided that the mechanism sprays cleanly after the previous filling and has not drawn in any residues. When changing fragrances, the old fragrance is hard to remove from the plastic and the tube, so for a new perfume it is better to use a new sprayer. The bottle is made of a single material, PET, while the sprayer combines polypropylene and aluminium, so separate the two parts before sorting the waste.

Closures with the same neck type, listed in the parameters, and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the white plastic 10 ml bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the white plastic hides the contents and direct light does not reach the filling. For hydrolates, toners with plant extracts or alcohol-based sprays with essential oils, this is an advantage over a clear bottle, because light speeds up changes in fragrance and colour. The disadvantage is that you cannot see how much filling remains, so you need to shake or weigh the bottle.
Is the 18/415 sprayer on the 10 ml bottle suitable for oils?
No, the fine mist sprayer is built for thin water-based and alcohol-based liquids. Vegetable oils and oil serums are too thick for this type of mechanism, so they come out in a stream, drip from the nozzle or clog the valve. For oil fillings in this bottle, a dropper or a pump with the same neck type is suitable.
Can the white 10 ml bottle with sprayer set be used for food?
No, the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. The bottle itself has a certificate for direct food contact, but the sprayer does not, so food use does not apply to the whole assembly. For cosmetic products, that is toners, sprays, hydrolates or perfume waters, both components are declared suitable.
How many doses does the sprayer give from the 10 ml bottle?
Approximately 70 presses, because one press dispenses about 0.14 ml. The actual number depends on the viscosity of the filling, on whether the tube was correctly shortened to just above the bottom, and on the residue at the bottom that the tube can no longer draw in. When you fill to the nominal volume, not to the neck, part of the reserve is used up by the mechanism and the tube.
Does the 10 ml PET bottle withstand alcohol-based sprays and essential oils?
PET tolerates alcohol-based fillings, that is perfume waters and ethanol sprays, without change. With a high proportion of undiluted essential oils or fragrance compositions, it is advisable to run a test: fill one bottle, leave it to stand for several weeks and watch for cloudiness, softening of the plastic and any odour. Always let the filling cool before pouring it in, as heat deforms PET.
