Product description

This 50 ml glass bottle with a black aluminium cap is designed for smaller amounts of liquid cosmetics: face and body oils, serums, toners, facial waters or trial batches of new formulations. Clear glass shows the colour and clarity of the contents. It is therefore suitable for products that are not light-sensitive and wherever the contents should be visible at first glance. The aluminium cap with an 18 mm thread closes the bottle flat, without a dispensing element, so the contents are poured directly from the neck. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.

What it is suited for

  • Face and body oils – the narrow neck allows controlled pouring drop by drop, even without a dropper.
  • Serums and toners – the 50 ml volume corresponds to a common pack size for facial care.
  • Trial batches – when testing the stability and appearance of a new formulation, you can see cloudiness, phase separation or colour change through the glass.
  • Small gift sets – a black cap on clear glass looks simple and combines well with a label in any colour.

The bottle and cap in practice

Glass does not react with common cosmetic ingredients, so the bottle can be filled with oil-based, water-based and alcohol-based products. The cap is made of aluminium and has a sealing liner made of foam polyethylene (EPE) inside, which sits on the neck and seals the contents. For alcohol-based products and blends with a higher proportion of essential oils, we recommend checking the tightness and the behaviour of the liner with your specific formulation, especially before longer storage or transport.

You will find two volume figures on the page. The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for in normal filling, and it is the one stated on the product label. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is listed in the parameters. The difference between them provides a margin for the closure, any dropper or pump, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.

Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. A bottle filled right up to the neck will overflow when closed, and when warmed the contents may press against the seal.

The aluminium cap is one of the closing options. You will find other closures with the same neck type stated in the parameters, as well as ready-made combinations of the bottle with a dropper or sprayer, in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, check the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. The glass withstands washing in warm water and repeated disinfection, but do not expose it to sudden temperature changes, for example by pouring hot contents into a cold bottle. When reusing the bottle, check that the cap liner is not deformed and has not absorbed the previous contents.

Clear glass does not provide protection from light. Store products with sensitive ingredients, such as vegetable oils prone to oxidation or active ingredients sensitive to UV radiation, in the dark, or choose amber or blue glass for them.

Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact. The aluminium cap does not have one, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

After use, the bottle belongs in glass recycling and the unscrewed aluminium cap in metal recycling.

Frequently asked questions

Does the clear 50 ml glass bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear glass lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. It is therefore suitable for products that are not light-sensitive, or for products that are used up quickly and stored in the dark. For oils prone to oxidation and light-sensitive active ingredients, amber or blue glass is more suitable.
How much does the 50 ml glass bottle actually hold?
The bottle is designed to be filled with 50 ml, which is its nominal volume. The physical volume up to the neck is larger and you will find it in the parameters as the total brimful volume. The margin allows the bottle to be closed without overflowing and allows for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes, so fill it to the nominal volume.
Can the glass bottle with an aluminium cap be used for food?
The set as a whole is not intended for food. The glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact, but the aluminium cap does not have such a certificate. Together they are therefore declared only for contact with cosmetics, where both parts meet the requirements.
Is the aluminium cap suitable for oils and alcohol-based tinctures?
The cap is suitable for cosmetic products, including oil-based and water-based ones. The seal is provided by a foam polyethylene liner that sits on the neck of the bottle. For alcohol-based products and blends with a higher content of essential oils, we recommend checking the tightness and the condition of the liner with your specific formulation, especially before longer storage.
How do I prepare the glass bottle before the first filling?
Wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the bottle could dilute an anhydrous product or impair its microbiological stability. The glass withstands warm water and disinfection, but avoid sudden alternation between hot and cold.
Does any closure other than the aluminium cap fit the 50 ml glass bottle?
Yes, the bottle has a common neck type stated in the parameters, and other closures with the same thread can be used on it, for example a dropper or a sprayer. You will find ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and the dispensing with your specific contents.
