A ready-made packaging and closure set for contents sensitive to light: a brown PET bottle in a dropper bottle shape with a nominal volume of 50 ml and a black aluminium screw cap. The brown tint of the plastic filters light, making the set suitable for face and hair oils, serums, tonics, tinctures, herbal infusions in alcohol, and dilution concentrates. PET is lightweight and shatter-resistant, so the bottle can handle travel and everyday use in the bathroom. The closed set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.

How the set works

The cap screws directly onto the bottle neck thread and seals it with a foam sealing insert made of expanded polyethylene, which seats against the rim of the neck. The result is a firm, smooth closure with no dispensing element: the contents are poured or scooped out of the bottle, they do not drip or spray. It is therefore suitable for products that are dispensed into the palm or decanted into a smaller container, and for storing semi-finished products, maceration oils, or diluted blends.

The combination of an aluminium cap and a brown bottle looks clean and understated, which you will appreciate with your own brand or gift cosmetics.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended at standard filling. Total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides a headspace for the closure and for the natural expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to nominal volume, not to the brim. If filled all the way to the neck, the contents would overflow when the cap is screwed on and contaminate the seal.

Good to know

Before first filling, wash both the bottle and cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Water residues in the neck would enter an anhydrous product and increase the risk of microbial growth. The bottle is designed for filling with cold or cooled contents; PET is not suitable for hot filling.

The brown PET bottle is used for oil-based, water-based and alcohol-based contents. With undiluted essential oils, strong solvents and aggressive chemicals, we recommend testing the bottle's compatibility with the specific formulation in advance. Common diluted blends in a carrier oil or water-based preparations with a low proportion of essential oils are standard for this packaging.

The set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. The bottle itself holds a food contact certificate, but the cap does not carry this declaration, so the set is not listed as food-grade packaging.

The bottle can be reused. Once empty, wash it with warm soapy water, rinse and disinfect in the same way as before first filling. Check the cap insert. If it is deformed or saturated with oil, replace the cap. The bottle is made of PET and goes into sorted plastics recycling; the cap is aluminium and is sorted as metal. Separate them before recycling.
