Product description

The glass bottle with a black aluminium cap is 30 ml packaging for small quantities of cosmetics that should not be exposed to direct light. Frosted matte glass dampens the light passing through, and the contents are visible from the outside only as a shadow, so the bottle is suitable mainly for serums, face and body oils and aromatic oil blends. The aluminium cap with a sealing liner closes the bottle without a dispensing element, and the contents are poured directly from the neck. Both the bottle and the cap are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.

What it is suitable for

  • Serums and concentrates – the 30 ml volume corresponds to a common pack size of a face serum or an oil concentrate for several weeks of use.
  • Face oils and oil blends – glass does not react with vegetable or essential oils, and the matte surface limits the light that accelerates their oxidation.
  • Tinctures and alcohol-based preparations – glass can also be filled with contents containing a higher proportion of ethanol, for example alcohol-based toners or perfume concentrates.
  • Samples and travel size – the small volume with a full screw closure is suitable for customer samples or for carrying a finished product.

The black cap on frosted glass gives the whole product line a uniform look, so the set is also suitable for presentation packaging of small batches.

How the set works

The cap is made of aluminium with a liner made of foamed polyethylene (EPE), which sits on the neck once tightened and seals the contents. The bottle and the cap have the same neck type, stated in the parameters, so they fit together without any further adjustment. The contents are dispensed by tilting the bottle. With thicker oils the flow is slower, with thin serums and tinctures it is faster, so we recommend pouring over a measuring cup or directly into your palm in small amounts.

If you need to dispense in drops or to spray, you can find closures with the same neck type and ready-made combinations of a bottle with a dropper in the Handymade range. If you combine parts yourself, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Tighten the aluminium cap by hand without excessive force. The liner seals the neck even with slight tightening, and a stripped thread on glass is harder to repair than on plastic.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is intended for under normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck, and you can find it in the parameters. The difference between them forms a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes, so the bottle is filled up to the nominal volume. Filling up to the brim leads to the contents being pushed out when closing and to the thread getting soiled, which then seals less well.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the neck or under the cap liner shows up as cloudiness with oil-based contents and increases the risk of contamination with water-based preparations.

Do not fill the glass with hot contents and do not expose it to sudden temperature changes, for example by filling a just-heated oil blend into a cold bottle. Let the contents cool down to room temperature first.

The set can be used repeatedly. Before each further filling, check that the cap liner keeps its shape and seals. The cap can be replaced separately.

The set is not declared for contact with food. For homemade oils, syrups or infusions intended for consumption, choose packaging with a food-contact certificate.

Frequently asked questions

Does a frosted glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Partly, yes. The matte surface scatters and dampens the light, but it does not block it the way amber or blue glass does. Oils and serums that are kept in a cabinet or in a box receive little light, and frosted glass is enough for them. Preparations with light-sensitive ingredients that are meant to stand on a shelf are better kept in dark glass.
Is a 30 ml glass bottle with an aluminium cap suitable for a face serum?
Yes, the 30 ml volume corresponds to a common pack size of a serum, and glass does not affect either water-based or oil-based compositions. Without a dropper, the serum is dispensed by tilting, which is convenient with thicker and oil-based serums. Thin water-based serums pour quickly from the neck, so for them consider a dropper with the same neck type.
Can a 30 ml glass bottle be filled with a tincture or a preparation containing ethanol?
Yes, glass does not react with ethanol and is suitable for tinctures, alcohol-based toners and perfume concentrates. Fill the bottle up to the nominal volume so that the alcohol does not remain in the thread and the cap seals well. With repeated use, check that the sealing liner of the cap keeps its shape.
How much content actually fits into a 30 ml glass bottle?
With normal filling it is 30 ml, which is the nominal volume of the bottle. The physical volume up to the neck is slightly larger and is stated in the parameters, but this difference serves as a reserve for the closure and the expansion of the contents. Filling up to the brim is not recommended, because the contents are pushed into the thread when closing.
How do I prepare a glass bottle and an aluminium cap for reuse?
Wash both parts in warm water with washing-up liquid, rinse them, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry upside down. With oil-based contents, remove the greasy film first, otherwise the alcohol will not be effective on the surface. Before the next filling, check that the cap liner keeps its shape and seals.
