Product description
The glass vial with a black aluminium cap is a complete kit for filling preparations that need to be protected from light and sealed tightly. The bottle and cap match each other in thread and gasket, so filling and closing requires no searching for a suitable closure.
Brown glass reduces light penetration, making the vial particularly suitable for facial and body oils, oil serums, essential oil blends, tinctures and alcohol extracts, tonics, and smaller test batches. The 50 ml volume is practical for samples, travel packaging, or preparations consumed within a few weeks. Glass is chemically stable, does not absorb scents, and does not react with essential oils or alcohol — something that cannot always be taken for granted with plastics.
What the kit offers
- Light protection – brown glass limits light exposure to the contents, which slows oxidation of oils and fading of coloured or fragrant components. It is not complete darkness, so storage away from direct sunlight is still recommended.
- Chemical stability of glass – glass does not soften, deform, or release anything into the contents that would alter the scent or colour. It is therefore suitable even for concentrated essential oils and alcohol-based preparations.
- Tight seal – the aluminium cap has an inner insert made of foam polyethylene, which seats on the neck and seals when tightened. The cap opens and closes easily.
- Complete combination – no need to check whether the closure fits the thread. Both parts have the same neck type and are matched to each other.
Nominal and total volume
Each bottle distinguishes between two volumes. Nominal volume is the amount the container is designed for during normal filling, and this is what the 50 ml label refers to. Total brim-full volume is the physical glass volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them forms a reserve for the cap and its seal, and for slight expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle, when the cap is tightened, pushes the contents onto the thread and the seal no longer holds.
How to use the vial
Before the first fill, we recommend washing and disinfecting both the bottle and cap with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leaving them to dry completely. Residual water inside would introduce moisture into anhydrous oil and shorten its stability.
The glass vial can be used repeatedly. After washing and disinfection it is suitable for the next batch. The cap should be checked after extended use: if the sealing insert becomes compressed or absorbs the scent of a previous content, it is better to replace it with a new one of the same neck type.
Glass tolerates warm filling, but not sudden temperature shocks. Pour hot mixtures gradually into the vial at room temperature, never into cold glass taken from the refrigerator.
The label adheres to the flat part of the bottle body.
Tighten the cap by hand with care. Aluminium will not break with excessive tightening, but the sealing insert gets compressed unnecessarily and may seal less well the next time it is opened. It is sufficient for the insert to seat on the neck.
Other closures with the same neck type also fit the vial, and ready-made combinations are available in the Handymade range. When creating your own combination with a dropper, pump, or spray, we recommend testing the seal, dosage, and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
Contact with cosmetics and food
The kit as a whole is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. Declarations of conformity for both components are listed in the product parameters. The food-contact certificate applies separately to the glass bottle; the aluminium cap does not carry one. The kit is therefore intended for cosmetic preparations. If you need packaging for household oils or syrups, choose a closure with a food-grade certificate for the bottle.
At end of life, glass is sorted as glass waste and the aluminium cap as metal, so separate them before recycling.
