Product description
A ready-made set for filling small batches of cosmetics: a 30 ml clear glass bottle with a black screw cap. It can be filled with facial and hair oils, serums, massage and perfume oils or tinctures. The clear glass lets you see the contents, which is useful for coloured oils, extracts and samples where you want to show the colour and clarity of the product. The 18/410 neck finish and the cap with liner form a closure that can be opened and closed repeatedly. The bottle has no dispensing element, so the contents are poured or drawn out directly.
Both parts of the set are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. You will find the declaration of conformity with the product.
What it is suitable for
- Oils and oil serums – the contents can be poured out drop by drop or in a stream through the narrow neck, depending on how you tilt the bottle.
- Tinctures and alcohol-based preparations – glass withstands alcohol and the cap with liner seals the contents.
- Samples and travel sizes – 30 ml holds a sample of serum or oil, or a small test batch when you are fine-tuning a recipe.
- Facial toners and hydrosols – without a sprayer, water-based contents can only be poured out, for example onto a cotton pad.
Cap and closure
The cap is made of polypropylene and has a foam polyethylene (EPE) liner inside, which sits against the neck once tightened and seals the joint. It closes by screwing on, without a dropper or sprayer. If you need more precise dispensing, a closure with a dropper or sprayer fits the same bottle. Closures with the same neck finish, as well as ready-made bottle + closure combinations, are available in the Handymade range. If you combine parts yourself, we recommend checking the seal and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
After filling, close the bottle, turn it upside down and leave it for a few hours on a paper towel. You will quickly see whether the cap seals with your formulation, before the pack goes into a bag or to a customer.
Volume and filling
The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for under normal filling. The total brimful volume, given in the parameters, is larger because it includes the space up to the top of the neck. This difference is a reserve for the cap, for a dropper if used, and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. You should therefore fill only up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise the contents overflow when closing, and an oil film on the thread impairs the seal.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the cap, rinse them and disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Let both parts dry completely, as residual water does not belong in an oil or other anhydrous product. The same procedure applies to repeated use. Glass can be used many times; for the cap, check that the liner is not compressed or swollen from the previous contents.
Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. If you store light-sensitive preparations in it, for example essential oils or serums with sensitive active ingredients, keep them in the dark or in a box, or choose dark glass instead.
Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes well. Let a hot oil phase or a freshly heated extract cool down before filling, and do not move the bottle from the fridge straight under hot water.
Once empty, the bottle belongs in glass recycling and the cap in plastics recycling; separate them before disposal.
