Product description
The clear glass bottle with a white and silver fine mist sprayer is a ready-made set for toners, hydrosols and facial or hair mists, that is, thin preparations applied by spraying. Clear glass shows the colour of the contents and how much liquid remains. The nominal volume of 50 ml suits a trial batch, a customer sample or a handbag-size pack. Both the bottle and the sprayer are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics, so the set is intended for cosmetic products. The certificate for direct contact with food applies only to the glass bottle on its own; it does not cover the set with the sprayer.
What the set is suitable for
- Hydrosols and toners – water-based solutions with low viscosity are sprayed in an even mist that can be applied without touching the product with your hands.
- Facial and body mists – light, refreshing sprays with water-soluble active ingredients, solubilised fragrance or glycerine.
- Hair care sprays – thin leave-in conditioners, hair waters and detangling sprays.
- Alcohol-based preparations – perfume waters and fresheners based on ethanol, where the glass does not react with the contents and does not absorb the fragrance.
Glass does not absorb odours or dyes. After thorough washing, the bottle can be used for another preparation without any lingering odour from the previous contents.
How the sprayer dispenses
One press releases approximately 0.14 ml of liquid as a mist. This dispensing volume suits toners and mists that are applied several times in a row and are meant to stay on the skin in a thin layer. The mechanism is designed for thin water-based or alcohol-based contents. Thick serums, gels and pure vegetable oils either do not pass through the nozzle or come out in a stream instead of a mist, and oily residues can clog the mechanism over time.
The dip tube of the sprayer is longer than the bottle. Before screwing it on for the first time, shorten it with an angled cut so that it reaches just to the bottom. The angled end does not stick to the glass, and the sprayer draws up the contents almost without residue.
The white and silver version with a glossy finish looks clean on clear glass. It is therefore also suitable for gift and retail packaging, where the contents are meant to be visible.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them forms a reserve for the suction mechanism of the sprayer and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. Fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, never to the brim. If it is filled up to the neck, the tube with the mechanism pushes part of the liquid out and the contents get into the thread, where they cause sticking and leaks.
Good to know
Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Light-sensitive preparations, for example those with essential oils, plant extracts or vitamin C, are better stored in the dark, or you can choose amber or blue glass. For toners and hydrosols that are used up within a few weeks, a clear bottle is sufficient and allows you to check the clarity of the contents.
Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Rinse the sprayer by pouring pure ethanol or boiled water into the bottle, pumping several times and letting the mechanism dry. Residual water in the tube would otherwise get into the finished preparation.
Both the glass and the plastic mechanism should only be filled with a cooled preparation. Hot liquid may crack the glass due to a sudden change in temperature.
When reusing the set, check that the sprayer dispenses an even mist after rinsing. A clogged or unevenly spraying mechanism is better replaced; the glass lasts for further cycles without limitation. Choose your own combination of the bottle with another closure according to the neck finish stated in the parameters, and before filling the whole batch, check the seal and dispensing with your specific formulation.
For recycling, the bottle belongs with glass. The sprayer, which combines plastic with an aluminium part, should be separated from the glass.
