Gloss Black Glass Bottle, Lotion Pump with Black Overcap, 10 ml

A black glossy glass bottle with a volume of 10 ml and a plastic lotion pump makes a ready-to-use set for small packs of creams, eye creams and thicker serums. Black glass protects the contents from light, so it suits formulations with vegetable oils, vitamins or essential oils, which are damaged by light. The pump dispenses the contents in small doses, you do not touch the product with your fingers, and the cream stays closed until it is used up. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.

What the set is suitable for

• Eye creams and lip-area creams – the small volume matches daily use and the pump keeps the dose small.
• Concentrated cream serums – formulations with a higher share of active ingredients, which are applied in small amounts and need protection from light.
• Samples and trial packs – 10 ml lasts several weeks, which is enough when testing a new cream with customers.
• Travel packs – the bottle takes up little space and the pump is better sealed than a jar when carried.

How to fill and dispense

One press of the pump dispenses approximately 0.14 ml of the contents. The amount is indicative and depends on the consistency: thicker creams give slightly less, thin emulsions slightly more. The pump is designed for cream and milky consistencies. With very thin aqueous solutions, check whether the contents leak from the opening on their own, and with solid anhydrous balms, check whether the pump can move them through the tube at all.

The pump tube is longer than the bottle, so before fitting it shorten it with a straight cut so that it ends just above the bottom. The pump can then draw out the contents almost to the last remnant.

The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The brimful capacity given in the parameters is larger, and the difference leaves room for the tube and the body of the pump. If you overfill the bottle, part of the cream is pushed out when the pump is screwed on.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. Rinse the pump with clean water, press it several times without any contents and dry it. After the contents are used up, the set can be used again. In that case, take the pump apart, rinse it thoroughly and check that no remnants of the previous formulation have stayed in the tube. With formulations containing a high share of essential oils or solvents, check how the plastic parts of the pump behave during longer contact with the contents.

Glass withstands sudden temperature changes less well, so do not fill the bottle with a hot mixture straight after emulsification. Let the emulsion cool to room temperature and only then fill. When you discard the set, the glass bottle goes in glass recycling and the plastic pump in plastics, preferably separately.
