Product description

A black glossy glass bottle with a capacity of 10 ml and an aluminium cap in the same colour is a ready-to-use container for small quantities of cosmetics: facial and hair oils, oil serums, blends of essential oils in a carrier oil, or perfume oils. The opaque black glass blocks light from reaching the contents, which is beneficial for oils and active ingredients that lose efficacy or change scent when exposed to light.

The bottle has a vial shape with an 18/410 neck. The cap is aluminium, with an EPE liner that seats on the neck and seals the container. The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.

What it is suitable for

Oil serums and facial oils – a small pack for testing a formula, for travel, or as a gift size where the contents are used up before they have a chance to oxidise.
Essential oil blends – diluted in a carrier oil for massage, for pulse points, or for aromatherapy blends.
Perfume oils – alcohol-free oil-based perfumes, used sparingly and lasting a long time.
Samples and test batches – during development, only a few millilitres are mixed and the container can be reused after washing.
Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass will not affect the contents, but verify the behaviour of the cap liner with an alcohol-based fill.

Filling and volume

The nominal volume of 10 ml is the quantity the bottle is designed for during normal filling. The total capacity to the brim is greater, and the difference between the two values is a reserve for the cap and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the neck.

Fill thicker oils and serums using a small funnel or a needleless syringe to keep the neck clean. Residue on the thread impairs the seating of the liner and the cap will seal less effectively.

The cap only closes the container; the contents are dispensed by tilting the bottle. Good to know

Before first use, wash the bottle, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and leave to dry completely neck down. Wipe the cap with alcohol and let it dry. Fit it only onto a dry neck; with anhydrous oil fills, residual water would settle at the bottom.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Do not pour a hot oil phase or a melted mixture into a cold bottle; let it cool to lukewarm first.

Black glass is not transparent, so when filling multiple units it is worth measuring by graduated vessel or by weight rather than by eye. When reusing, check the cap liner. If it is compressed or damaged, replace the cap.

The bottle is made of glass and the cap of aluminium; separate them before recycling.

The set is intended for cosmetic products. Food-contact certification applies only to the glass bottle separately; the aluminium cap does not have it.
