Product description

TEGO Care 450 MB is a universal, non-ionic emulsifier based on plant-derived raw materials intended for O/W (oil in water) creams and emulsions. It is characterized by high stability, excellent compatibility with active ingredients and a mild effect on the skin. TEGO Care 450 MB is an emulsifier based on renewable resources, suitable for PEG-free formulations and stable O/W emulsions in the pH range 4.5 – 8.5.
In creams it provides excellent application properties, a light texture and a long-lasting moisturizing effect. It is compatible with a large number of electrolytes, plant extracts, proteins and UV filters.

The product ensures emulsion stability at temperatures from -25 °C to +50 °C and enables the development of formulations with high resistance to both heat and frost.

Use in formulation

Recommended dosage: 2 – 3 % of the total weight of the emulsion.

• For light body lotions: 2 – 3 % TEGO Care 450 MB + 15 – 25 % oil phase.
• For rich creams: 3 % TEGO Care 450 MB + 20 – 40 % oil phase.

The product is compatible with all common cosmetic oils, including polar ones. Viscosity can be adjusted by adding 0.1 – 0.5 % thickeners (e.g. Carbomer A/B, xanthan gum, carrageenan). For creams it is recommended to add 2 – 5 % consistency agents (e.g. Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate).

TEGO® Care 450 MB is suitable for a hot-hot process – heating the oil and water phases to 65 – 80 °C and homogenizing after combining the phases. Sensitive components and fragrances should be added at 35 – 40 °C.

Compatibility

The product is miscible with most vegetable oils, esters and active ingredients used in cosmetics. Compatible with anionic and non-ionic systems and with carbomer-based or natural gum-based rheology.

TEGO® Care 450 MB provides a soft, stable texture without a whitening effect during spreading.

Safety and storage

Store in a dry place, at 15 – 30 °C, in a tightly closed container. The product is stable when properly stored. At the recommended concentrations it is dermatologically safe – tested without erythema and scaling in a Duhring test (on 20 volunteers).
