Product description

The white glass medicine bottle with a white and gold dropper, 15 ml, is a ready-made set for serums, facial oils and concentrates of active ingredients that are dispensed drop by drop. White glass conceals the contents and limits light exposure, so it also suits blends with essential oils, oil extracts or vitamins, which deteriorate faster in light. The 15 ml volume is right for a travel size, a customer sample or a small batch of your own serum that you use up before it starts to change.

The dropper with a glass tube and a silicone bulb has a white and gold finish that matches the white bottle. The set therefore looks like a uniform pack, ready for sale or gifting. The dropper screws directly onto the 18/410 neck finish, and no other closure is needed.

Suitable uses

  • Serums and concentrates – water-based and oil-based serums with a higher content of active ingredients, where precise dispensing of a few drops matters.
  • Facial, beard and nail oils – light blends that are applied with the dropper directly onto the skin or into the palm.
  • Essential oil blends in a carrier oil – aromatherapy blends and perfume oils, where white glass protects sensitive components from light.
  • Samples and test batches – the small volume allows you to try out a recipe or divide a larger batch into several packs.

Thicker creams and balms are not dispensed with a dropper. Jars or bottles with a pump are more suitable for them.

Nominal volume and brimful capacity

The nominal volume of 15 ml is the volume the medicine bottle is intended for in normal filling. The brimful capacity is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the glass tube of the dropper, which pushes part of the contents upwards when screwed on, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is overfilled, the contents will overflow through the thread after the dropper is fitted and remain in it.

Preparation and filling

Before the first filling, the bottle and the dropper are washed, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and left to dry completely. Residual water in the glass tube or in the thread would get into a water-based product, so the dropper is dried with the tube facing down.

Glass is sensitive to sudden changes in temperature. Do not pour a hot oil phase or a freshly melted mixture into a cold medicine bottle. Let the contents cool to at least room temperature. A small funnel or syringe helps with filling, as the narrow neck of the medicine bottle is harder to fill from an ordinary beaker.

Tighten the dropper by hand only enough for it to seal. Tightening the plastic collar on the glass thread too firmly may damage the collar, and the dropper will then not seal.

Good to know

The bottle and the dropper are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the declaration of conformity is available with the product. The set as a whole is intended for cosmetics, not for food.

The silicone bulb and the plastic parts of the dropper come into contact with the contents when drawing up the liquid and when the bottle is tilted. For concentrated essential oils, perfume compositions with a higher proportion of solvents or alcoholic tinctures, we recommend checking beforehand whether the bulb softens or changes shape over time.

The medicine bottle can be reused. After it is emptied, it is washed, disinfected and dried in the same way as before the first filling. For the dropper, it is worth checking that the bulb has not changed and that the tube has not come loose from the head. The 18/410 neck finish also fits other closures with the same type of neck, which you will find in the Handymade range together with ready-made packaging + closure combinations. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

Before sending the glass medicine bottle to a customer, pack it so that the dropper cannot come loose. The glass tube of the dropper is thin and may break if dropped on a hard floor.

For recycling, the bottle is sorted as glass. The dropper combines glass, silicone, plastic and aluminium, so it is separated from the bottle before disposal and sorted according to local rules.

Frequently asked questions

Does the white glass 15 ml medicine bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, white glass conceals the contents and limits the access of light. It is therefore suitable for serums with vitamins, oil extracts or essential oils, which change faster in light. However, protection from light does not replace an antioxidant or a preservative in the formulation, which must be addressed in the recipe.
How many ml actually fit into a 15 ml medicine bottle with a dropper?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 15 ml. The physical volume up to the brim is higher and you will find it in the parameters, but this reserve is taken up by the glass tube of the dropper and by the space for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled up to the neck, the contents will overflow through the thread after the dropper is screwed on.
Is the white and gold dropper suitable for essential oils?
Yes, for essential oil blends diluted in a carrier oil. For concentrated essential oils, perfume compositions with solvents and alcoholic tinctures, we recommend checking beforehand how the silicone bulb and the plastic parts of the dropper tolerate the specific contents, because they come into contact with it when drawing up the liquid and when the bottle is tilted.
Is the white 15 ml medicine bottle suitable for water-based serums and toners?
Yes for water-based serums, as glass does not react with the water phase and the dropper dispenses thin liquids without problems. Water-based products in a medicine bottle must be preserved, because the dropper comes into contact with the skin or the air with every use. Toners are usually applied in a larger amount, so a bottle with a sprayer is more suitable for them.
Which closure fits the 15 ml glass medicine bottle besides the dropper?
Closures with the 18/410 neck finish, which is stated in the parameters, fit the medicine bottle. In the Handymade range you will also find other droppers, caps and ready-made packaging + closure combinations for this type of neck. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation before filling the whole batch.
