Product description
The transparent glass dropper bottle is a ready-to-use set for precise drop-by-drop dispensing. The bottle with a nominal volume of 15 ml and a white-and-gold dropper that screws onto the neck and seals it at the same time are ideal for facial and oil serums, concentrates, essential oil blends, nail oils, tinctures, or samples and test batches of new formulations.
The transparent glass shows the contents – colour, clarity and any sediment – so the customer can immediately see what they are buying, and the manufacturer can check the condition of the formulation without opening it. Glass does not react with oils, alcohol or essential oils, so the contents do not change in scent and do not draw components from the packaging. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the declaration of conformity and related documents are listed with the product.
How the set works
The dropper consists of a glass tube, a white squeeze bulb and a gold threaded collar that holds the dropper in the bottle and seals the neck. The length of the tube is matched to the height of the bottle, reaching almost to the bottom so virtually all the contents can be removed. Squeezing the bulb draws up a few drops to a small dose, which is applied directly to the skin, into the palm, or into a blend being prepared.
This type of dispensing makes sense for concentrated products where small quantities are used – serums with active ingredients, oil elixirs, essential oil blends for an aroma lamp or massage oil, tinctures. With thicker oils and serums the dropper still works, but drops come out more slowly. For very viscous formulations such as balms and thick gels, this packaging is not suitable.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for during normal filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is larger. The difference provides the headspace taken up by the dropper's glass tube once screwed in, and room for the contents to expand with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise some contents will be pushed out through the neck when the dropper is fitted. Both values are listed in the product parameters.
When filling small bottles, a funnel with a narrow stem or a needleless syringe works well. It ensures an accurate quantity and a clean neck on which the dropper collar seals properly.
What to know
- Light – transparent glass does not protect the contents from light. For light-sensitive formulations (serums with vitamin C or retinoids, oils rich in unsaturated fatty acids, certain essential oils) dark glass or storage in a box is preferable. For stable oils, blends intended for short-term use, or where you want to display the contents, clear glass is fine.
- Preparation before first fill – we recommend washing the bottle and dropper, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing to dry completely. Residual water in an oil or anhydrous serum will cause cloudiness and reduce the stability of the formulation.
- Reuse – both the glass and the dropper can be used again after thorough washing. The bulb is cleaned by drawing clean water into the tube and squeezing it out. Residual essential oils in the bulb can transfer to the next fill, so it is worth having separate droppers for different fragrances.
- Dropper material – the tube is glass, the bulb is silicone, and the collar has a plastic insert with an aluminium surface. During normal use the bulb does not come into contact with the contents. When storing on its side or with concentrated essential oils, however, we recommend checking that the contents do not reach the bulb.
- Glass and heat – the bottle can be filled with lukewarm contents, but a sudden temperature change (hot oil into cold glass) may damage the glass. Glass is fragile; finished products must be protected with padding during transport.
- Allow space for mandatory information or consider an additional tag.
- Food – the set is declared for cosmetic products and is not intended for food packaging.
- Recycling – the bottle goes in the glass waste stream. The dropper is made from multiple materials; before disposal, separate the glass tube from the bulb and collar.
Tighten the dropper collar by hand, without force. Overtightening damages the internal seal and the neck will no longer seal properly, which becomes most noticeable during transport or when stored on its side.
Closures and combinations
The bottle has the standard neck type listed in the parameters, so other closures with the same thread from the Handymade range are also compatible. Ready-made combinations of the bottle with a cap, spray pump or alternative dropper have their own description. For a custom combination we recommend verifying seal integrity and dispensing with the specific formulation.
