A ready-made set for samples, travel sizes and handbag sprays: an opaque white pharmaceutical bottle with a capacity of 10 ml, fitted with a black fine mist sprayer and a smoky overcap. The plastic is lightweight and does not break when dropped, and the white wall hides the contents from view and from light. The set is suitable for facial toners, hydrolates, refreshing face and body sprays, alcohol-based hair sprays or eau de parfum. The sprayer disperses the contents into fine droplets, and the smoky overcap covers the nozzle and prevents accidental pressing during transport.

The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. Only the bottle has its own certificate for direct food contact; the sprayer does not, so the set is intended for cosmetic and technical purposes.

What it is suitable for

• Samples and testers – the volume is enough for several weeks of trying out a toner or eau de parfum, and the customer takes away a small amount with no risk of breakage.
• Thin water-based and alcohol-based contents – the sprayer is designed for low viscosity, such as hydrolates, toners, floral waters or alcohol-based sprays.
• Travel and sport – the overcap protects the nozzle from dirt, the plastic weighs almost nothing and the pharmaceutical bottle shape fits into a small pocket.

Volume and filling

The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The total volume up to the neck is always slightly larger. The difference provides room for the dip tube and the body of the sprayer, which push the liquid level up once screwed on, and for the expansion of the liquid when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal 10 ml, not to the brim. Contents poured up to the neck would overflow when the sprayer is screwed on. As the contents cannot be seen through the white wall, check the volume with a measuring cup when filling.

One press dispenses approximately 0.12 ml, so the whole contents last for roughly 80 presses. When using it for the first time, press the sprayer pump several times to prime it until the dip tube fills and the contents start to come out evenly.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the sprayer, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the bottle would dilute the contents and shorten the shelf life of preservative-free products.

Fill the bottle only after the contents have cooled down. Hot liquids deform the plastic and the overcap may then not fit properly. Before filling, we recommend checking the compatibility of the material with your specific formulation. PET and PP withstand water-based, alcohol-based and common cosmetic contents. With concentrated essential oils, fragrance compositions with a high proportion of solvents or other aggressive chemicals, test the packaging first with a small amount and watch the wall of the bottle and the seal of the sprayer.

The set can be used repeatedly. Once empty, wash and disinfect both parts in the same way as before the first filling. If the sprayer becomes clogged with dried contents after a long period, rinsing with warm water and a few empty presses will help. For recycling, separate the PET bottle and the PP sprayer and sort each one separately.
