Product description

This white plastic pharmaceutical bottle with a capacity of 10 ml and a black lotion pump is designed for facial products that are applied in tiny amounts: eye creams, light serums, facial emulsions, samples or travel packs. The pump releases the same amount with each press, so there is no need to scoop out the contents with your fingers or open the bottle during use. The smoky overcap protects the pump head from dust and from being pressed accidentally in a bag.

The bottle is made of PET, it is lightweight and does not break when dropped, which you will appreciate especially with samples that travel to customers by post. The white colour hides the contents and limits the access of light, so it is also suitable for formulations with plant extracts or oils, which lose their properties more quickly in light. The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics.

What it is suitable for

  • Eye creams and serums – for products intended for the eye area a small amount is enough, and the precise dose from the pump prevents waste.
  • Light emulsions and fluids – thin and medium-thick textures pass through the dip tube of the pump without difficulty.
  • Samples and test packs – the customer can try the product before buying a larger pack.
  • Travel packs – a bottle with an overcap takes up minimal space.

Dispensing and working with the pump

One press releases approximately 0.14 ml of the contents. For an eye cream or a concentrated serum this corresponds to one dose, while an emulsion for the whole face usually takes two to three presses. The dip tube of the pump is longer than the bottle, so trim it before screwing on the pump so that it just reaches the bottom. Almost the entire contents can then be used up.

After filling the bottle and screwing on the pump, press the pump several times without product until the dip tube and the mechanism fill with the product. Only then does it dispense evenly.

The pump is intended for liquid and creamy textures that move easily when pressed. Thick balms or anhydrous products with a high proportion of butters may block the dip tube or fail to come out of the bottle. For thicker formulations we recommend filling one test bottle and checking the dispensing.

Good to know

The nominal volume of 10 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total volume to the brim is slightly larger, and the difference is a reserve for the dip tube with the pump mechanism and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason, fill only to the nominal volume. If the bottle is filled to the brim, part of the contents will be pushed out through the thread when the pump is screwed on.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the pump, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in the dip tube would dilute the first doses of the product and worsen the conditions for preservation. Once the contents are used up, the set can be cleaned and used again. Rinse the dip tube and the pump head with warm water and a little cleaning product and let them dry.

PET tolerates water-based and emulsion formulations and common cosmetic oils. For contents with a high proportion of essential oils, solvents or alcohol, we recommend checking the behaviour of the bottle on a test piece, as some ingredients may soften or cloud the plastic over time.

Only the bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food. The lotion pump does not have this certificate, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics. Do not use the complete set for homemade oils or syrups.

Closures with the same neck finish, as stated in the parameters, and ready-made bottle + closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. With your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation. The bottle is made of PET and the pump of PP. Before recycling, separate the two parts and sort them by material.

Frequently asked questions

What products is a 10 ml bottle with a lotion pump suitable for?
It is best suited to eye creams, light serums and facial emulsions that are dispensed in small amounts. The pump releases approximately 0.14 ml per press, which corresponds to one dose of eye cream. Thick balms and products with a high proportion of butters will not pass through the pump, and a jar is more suitable for them.
How much cream fits into a bottle with a nominal volume of 10 ml?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume of 10 ml, not to the brim. The total volume to the brim is slightly larger, and this reserve is taken up by the dip tube with the pump mechanism and by the space for the expansion of the contents. If the bottle is overfilled, part of the product will be pushed out through the thread when the pump is screwed on.
Why does the pump not dispense after filling?
A new pump has an empty dip tube and mechanism, so the head must be pressed several times without product until it fills with the product. If it still does not dispense, the cause is usually a texture that is too thick to move through the dip tube. A thinner formulation or transfer into a jar will help.
Does the white PET bottle protect the contents from light?
The white bottle hides the contents and limits the access of light compared with clear packaging, which benefits formulations with plant extracts, oils or sensitive active ingredients. It does not replace full protection from light, so filled bottles should also be stored out of direct sunlight.
Can the bottle with a lotion pump be used for food?
The set as a whole is not intended for food. Only the bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food, and the lotion pump does not have one. The bottle and the pump are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics, so the set is used for cosmetic products.
Can I clean the bottle with the pump and fill it again?
Yes. Wash the bottle, rinse the dip tube and the pump head with warm water and a cleaning product, and press the pump several times so that the water passes through the entire mechanism. Before the new filling, disinfect everything with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely.
