Product description

The set consisting of a 10 ml plastic pharmaceutical bottle with a nasal sprayer dispenses aqueous solutions in a fine, metered spray. The white bottle and the nasal sprayer with an 18/410 neck finish are suitable for preparations where an accurate dose matters: hydrolates, saline and aromatic aqueous solutions, or travel-size facial mists.

The white opaque wall of the bottle limits the light reaching the contents, and the plastic withstands being dropped or carried in a bag without the risk of breaking. The sprayer with a long nozzle directs the spray exactly where you need it, and each press releases approximately the same amount of solution. The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Only the bottle has a separate certificate for direct food contact; the sprayer does not, so the assembled set must not be used for food purposes.

What the set is suitable for

  • Hydrolates and floral waters – aqueous, low-viscosity contents pass through the sprayer without problems, and the fine spray distributes them evenly.
  • Saline and mineral aqueous solutions – a metered dose with each press makes it easier to use the same amount every time.
  • Aromatic aqueous sprays – the small volume suits samples, test batches and travel packs.
  • Customer samples – 10 ml is enough to try a product.

How the set works

The sprayer screws onto the neck of the bottle with a G18x3 thread, which corresponds to the common 18/410 designation. The tube reaches the bottom and draws up the solution, which is sprayed through a narrow nozzle when the head is pressed. Before first use, press the pump several times until the system is primed and begins to spray evenly.

The sprayer is intended for liquid aqueous solutions. Oils, thick serums, gels and emulsions clog the nozzle or come out as a stream instead of a mist. Solutions with undissolved particles, which settle in the narrow channel, are not suitable either.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The physical volume up to the neck is larger, and the difference provides room for the sprayer tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.

Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise, part of the solution is pushed out when you screw on the sprayer, and the neck stays wet.

Good to know

Before first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely. It is enough to rinse the sprayer with clean water and pump the water through with several presses so that no rinse water remains in the tube. Then leave it to dry with the head facing down.

One dose corresponds to approximately 0.12 ml. From this you can set the number of presses per use and estimate how many doses a full bottle will provide.

Compare the length of the tube with the height of the bottle before fitting it. If it extends past the bottom and bends, shorten it with a straight cut so that it reaches just above the bottom, otherwise the sprayer draws up the solution unevenly.

The white wall does not allow you to see the level of the contents. For larger batches, it is worth filling by weighed amount, not by eye. After washing and disinfection, the set can be reused. However, do not clean a deformed nozzle or tube any further; replace the sprayer instead.

The bottle is made of PET and belongs in plastic recycling. The sprayer combines several materials, including a metal spring, so unscrew it from the bottle before recycling. You can find further closures with the same neck type, as well as ready-made bottle and closure combinations, in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation on a single piece.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 10 ml plastic pharmaceutical bottle with nasal sprayer suitable for hydrolate?
Yes, hydrolates and other aqueous solutions without particles are the most suitable contents for this set. The low viscosity allows an even, fine spray, and the sprayer does not clog. Filter the hydrolate before filling and make sure it contains no sediment that could settle in the nozzle.
Can the set with the nasal sprayer be used for food?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for food contact. Only the white PET bottle has a separate certificate for direct food contact. The sprayer does not have such a certificate, so the assembled set is intended for cosmetic products and aqueous cosmetic solutions.
Why does the nasal sprayer not spray after filling?
Before first use, the sprayer needs several priming presses until the tube and the mechanism fill with the solution. If it does not spray even then, check whether the tube reaches the liquid, whether it is bent and whether the nozzle has dried up. Rinsing with warm water loosens a dried-up nozzle.
Can I fill the 10 ml plastic pharmaceutical bottle with oil or serum?
No, the nasal sprayer is intended only for liquid aqueous solutions. Oils, higher-viscosity serums and emulsions do not form a mist from the nozzle and clog the mechanism. For oil-based contents, the same bottle can be used with a different closure for the 18/410 neck, for example a dropper or a cap.
How do I clean the nasal sprayer for repeated use?
Unscrew the sprayer, rinse it with clean water and pump the water through the nozzle with several presses. Then leave it to dry thoroughly with the head facing down. Wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely before refilling. If the nozzle is deformed or the tube has turned yellow, replace the sprayer.
