Product description

The set consisting of a white PET pharmaceutical bottle with a black and gold glossy pump and a clear overcap is intended for small volumes of cosmetics applied in doses: facial and eye serums, light emulsions, oil blends or concentrated products with active ingredients. The contents are dispensed by pressing the pump, without unscrewing anything and without fingers touching the product, which helps keep serums with active ingredients clean throughout use.

White plastic limits the amount of light reaching the contents, so the pharmaceutical bottle is also suitable for light-sensitive formulations. The 10 ml volume has proven itself for travel sizes, customer samples and test batches, where there is no point in filling a larger bottle. The set as a whole is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

How dispensing works

The pump screws onto the neck of the pharmaceutical bottle with an 18/415 neck finish and draws up the contents through a dip tube reaching into the bottle. One press dispenses approximately 0.3 ml. Before first use, press the pump several times until the tube fills and the pump starts dispensing evenly.

For thicker emulsions, we recommend checking beforehand that the pump can draw them up and dispenses without interruption. The clear overcap protects the pump outlet from dust and dirt and can be removed and put back on at any time.

Once screwed on, the dip tube of the pump takes up part of the space inside the bottle. Therefore fill only to the nominal volume and insert the pump slowly so that the contents do not overflow through the neck.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the pharmaceutical bottle is designed to hold when filled normally. The total volume to the brim is the physical space up to the neck and is usually slightly larger. The difference serves as a reserve for the dip tube and the pump mechanism and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

Good to know

  • Preparation before first filling – rinse the pharmaceutical bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Rinse the pump by pressing it several times in clean water or alcohol, and let the tube dry as well.
  • Reuse – the bottle can be washed and used again. The pump is harder to clean because residues of the formulation remain in the mechanism. When changing the recipe, rinse it thoroughly.
  • Material and contents – check compatibility with undiluted essential oils, higher concentrations of alcohol and solvents on a small amount first. The packaging is not intended for aggressive chemicals.
  • Heat – let a hot emulsion or heated oil cool before filling, as the plastic may deform at high temperatures. Store the filled packaging at 5–30 °C away from direct sunlight.
  • Closures – other closures with the same neck type can also be fitted to the pharmaceutical bottle, and you can find ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
  • Recycling – the bottle is made of PET, while the pump combines polypropylene and aluminium, so they are separated during sorting.

Only the bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact. The pump does not have one, so the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics, not for food.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the pump on the 10 ml pharmaceutical bottle dispense?
One press of the pump dispenses approximately 0.3 ml of the contents. A full 10 ml bottle therefore gives roughly thirty doses, and the exact number depends on the thickness of the formulation and on how well the pump was primed before use. Before first use, press it several times until the contents rise through the tube.
Can the white pharmaceutical bottle with a pump be filled with an oil serum?
Yes, the set is declared for cosmetic products, including oil serums and light oil blends. For thicker blends, check beforehand that the pump can draw them up without interruption. For undiluted essential oils or blends with a high proportion of alcohol, we recommend checking compatibility on a small amount first, because the packaging is not intended for aggressive chemicals.
Is the bottle and pump set suitable for food?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for food contact. Only the white PET pharmaceutical bottle on its own has a certificate for direct food contact, and the pump does not have such a certificate. Together, the bottle and the pump are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products and are intended for this use.
How do I prepare a pharmaceutical bottle with a pump before first filling?
Rinse the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely. Rinse the pump by pressing it several times in clean water or alcohol so that the tube is cleaned as well, and let it dry. Only then fill to the nominal volume and screw on the pump slowly.
Does the white pharmaceutical bottle protect the contents from light?
White plastic limits the amount of light reaching the contents, so the bottle is suitable for formulations with light-sensitive ingredients. Only the overcap of the pump, which covers its outlet, is clear, while the contents remain in the white part. Even so, store the packaging away from direct sunlight.
