Product description

This set of a white plastic pharmaceutical bottle with a capacity of 10 ml and a black fine mist sprayer is intended for small volumes of liquids that are applied by spraying. The white PET wall is not see-through, so contents sensitive to light, such as fragrance compositions or toners with plant extracts, are better protected than in a clear container. The plastic is light and does not break when dropped. At 10 ml, this makes a pack that fits in a handbag, suits travel, or works for customer samples.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Only the bottle has a certificate for direct contact with food; the sprayer does not. For this reason, use the set as a whole for cosmetics, not for food purposes.

What it is suitable for

With its small dose, the sprayer evenly disperses thin water-based or alcohol-based liquids. The 10 ml volume suits products that are used up quickly or carried with you:

  • Perfume and fragrance water samples – a small amount of an alcohol-based composition for trying out a fragrance before buying a larger pack.
  • Facial mists and toners – a travel version of a hydrolate or toner for refreshing the skin during the day.
  • Hair and body sprays – light hair mists and refreshing sprays for the body or linen.
  • Alcohol-based hand sprays – refreshing solutions with a high proportion of ethanol for your pocket or bag.

Thick oils, emulsions and liquids with a thickener do not pass evenly through a sprayer like this. For oil serums or creams, choose a bottle with a dropper or a pump instead.

Filling and dispensing

The nominal volume of 10 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for during normal filling. The total brimful volume is slightly larger. This difference is a reserve for the sprayer tube, so the bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the neck. If filled to the brim, part of the liquid would be pushed out when the sprayer is screwed on.

One press of the sprayer releases approximately 0.14 ml of liquid. From a perfume sample, the customer therefore gets dozens of applications, and with a facial mist the daily consumption can be estimated from the number of presses.

The sprayer tube is longer than the bottle. Before first use, shorten it with a straight cut so that it reaches just above the bottom. If it bends at the bottom, it draws up liquid less efficiently and part of the contents remains unused.

Before first use of the finished spray, press the sprayer several times to prime it until the tube and pump fill with liquid. The first presses after filling often produce no mist or only drops.

Good to know

Before first filling, wash the bottle, rinse it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and let it dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with alcohol and pump it dry several times so that any residues run out of the pump. The packaging can be reused, but treat it the same way before each new filling. Otherwise you will carry residues of the previous fragrance or preservative over into the new product.

The bottle and the sprayer are not intended for aggressive chemicals. For compositions with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, test the behaviour of both parts with your formulation at least several weeks before sale.

The bottle has a G18 thread and the sprayer is designed for exactly this neck, so the set seals without further adjustment. You will find other closures with the same neck type and other ready-made combinations in the Handymade range. For your own assembly, always check the tightness and the behaviour of the closure with the specific liquid.

The level of the contents cannot be seen through the white wall. The remaining amount is estimated from the weight or the number of presses.

The bottle is made of PET and the sprayer of polypropylene. When recycling, separate the two parts and sort them as plastic.

Frequently asked questions

Does the white plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
The white wall of the bottle is not see-through, so less light reaches the contents than in a clear container. Fragrance compositions, hydrolates and toners with plant ingredients, which lose their scent or change colour faster in light, keep better in this packaging. However, white plastic does not protect the contents from heat, so do not leave the finished spray in the sun for long periods.
Can the bottle and sprayer set be used for food?
No, the set as a whole is not approved for contact with food. Only the plastic bottle has a certificate for direct contact with food; the sprayer does not have such a document. Use the bottle and sprayer assembly for cosmetic products, for which the suitability of both components is declared.
How much liquid does one press of the 18/415 sprayer release?
One press releases approximately 0.14 ml of liquid. From a full 10 ml pack, you therefore get about 70 presses; with thicker or alcohol-based liquids, the actual dose may differ slightly. If you need an exact figure, weigh several presses with your specific formulation.
Is the 10 ml plastic bottle with a sprayer suitable for an oil serum?
No, this set is not suitable for oils. The sprayer with a small nozzle is designed for thin water-based and alcohol-based liquids, which it disperses into a fine mist. Oil comes out of the nozzle in drops or as a stream. For an oil serum, choose a bottle with a dropper or a pump for thick contents.
How do I clean the bottle and sprayer before refilling?
Wash the bottle with warm water and detergent, rinse it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and let it air dry upside down. Immerse the sprayer tube in alcohol and press the sprayer several times so that the alcohol passes through the pump and the nozzle. Then pump it dry in the same way. Residues of the previous fragrance may not be removed from the plastic completely, so for a different type of product, use a new set instead.
