The set combines an aluminium bottle with a volume of 50 ml and a plastic pump with overcap in a white and gold design. Both the packaging and the closure arrive matched, with the same 24/410 neck finish. Aluminium shields the contents completely from light, which you will appreciate with oils, serums and liquid emulsions with sensitive ingredients. The bottle is lightweight and, unlike glass, does not break, so it also suits travel-size packaging or a handbag. The pump dispenses the contents without unscrewing, so the bottle is not opened with each use and the contents have less contact with air and fingers.

What it is suitable for

• Face serums and fluids – a small dose from one press corresponds to the amount that is normally applied to the face.
• Face and body oils – opaque aluminium protects unsaturated oils from light, which speeds up their yellowing.
• Light creams and hand lotions – the pump still handles lighter emulsions, and 50 ml is enough for one course of treatment or for travel.
• Samples and gift packs – the white and gold pump looks like a finished product without any further finishing.

How the set works

The pump screws onto the neck of the bottle and draws the contents up through a tube from the bottom. One press dispenses approximately 0.2 ml, so you dose precisely, without pouring or guessing the amount. The overcap protects the pump head from dirt and from accidental pressing during transport.

The pump is designed for liquid to medium-thick contents. With thick creams or butters the contents are drawn up with difficulty, the dose is irregular and the mechanism wears out quickly. The tube is longer than a 50 ml bottle requires, so the pump also fits taller packaging with the same neck.

Filling and volume

The nominal volume of 50 ml is the volume the bottle is intended for with normal filling. The brimful capacity is the physical volume up to the neck and we state it in the parameters. The difference between them is a reserve for the tube and the body of the pump, which take up part of the space once screwed on, and also for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is overfilled, the contents run out around the thread after the pump is inserted and the thread gets dirty.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the pump, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in the bottle would dilute anhydrous products and, in emulsions, reduces the effectiveness of preservation.

Aluminium is dimensionally stable, but if dropped or squeezed hard it will dent, and the dent cannot be reversed. The bottle is therefore not suitable for thick contents that customers would squeeze out by pressing the wall. We recommend checking the compatibility of aluminium with a specific formulation, especially with strongly acidic or alkaline recipes and with a high proportion of essential oils, on a trial batch in the finished packaging.

The pump is made of polypropylene and aluminium. Polypropylene tolerates vegetable oils and emulsions. With concentrated essential oils and solvents we likewise recommend a trial fill and a check after several weeks.

The set is not intended for food packaging. You will find closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations in the Handymade range. With your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your formulation.

The bottle can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. Before recycling, unscrew the pump; the aluminium bottle belongs with metals and the plastic parts of the pump with plastics.
