Product description

A square amber glass bottle, 30 ml, with a white fine mist sprayer is a ready-made packaging solution for facial and hair toners, hydrosols, refreshing mists and perfume waters. Amber glass dampens light, so it is also suitable for formulations with essential oils, plant extracts or vitamins, which lose their effectiveness faster in light. The sprayer applies the contents as a fine mist, so there is no need to pour or soak cotton pads. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

Suitable uses

  • Toners and hydrosols – low-viscosity aqueous solutions spray evenly and a small amount is applied directly to the skin.
  • Facial and hair mists – a volume of 30 ml is enough for a travel or trial version of a formulation whose composition is still being tested.
  • Perfume and body waters – alcohol-based formulations spray well and dark glass slows down changes in fragrance caused by light.
  • Refreshing sprays for your bag – smaller alcohol-water solutions that you carry with you or keep on your desk.
  • Samples and small batches – the square shape stacks well and saves space in the box.

Using the set

With one press, the sprayer releases approximately 0.13 ml of the contents. The amount is indicative and is usually smaller with thicker liquids or a partial press. The dip tube of the sprayer is longer than the bottle itself. Before the first assembly, therefore, shorten it with a sharp knife or scissors so that it reaches just above the bottom and does not kink. The cut should be slanted, so that the tube does not stick to the bottom and draws up even the last millilitres.

Shorten the dip tube gradually and try fitting the sprayer twice rather than cutting off too much. A tube that is too short leaves contents at the bottom that can no longer be sprayed out.

After filling, screw the sprayer onto the neck with an 18 mm thread and press it several times to prime it until the dip tube and nozzle fill with the liquid. The first two or three presses usually release only air.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume of 30 ml is the amount the bottle is intended for under normal filling. The brimful capacity listed in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the dip tube of the sprayer and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Therefore, fill the bottle up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If it is overfilled, part of the contents is pushed out through the thread when the sprayer is screwed on and the bottle leaks.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the glass, disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and let it dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with clean water and pump it until empty, so that no water residues remain in it that would dilute the first doses.

The sprayer is intended for thin liquids. Aqueous solutions, hydrosols and alcohol-based formulations pass through the nozzle without problems. Oils, gels and emulsions with higher viscosity spray poorly or not at all, or the nozzle may produce a jet instead of a mist. For borderline formulations, we recommend checking the application on a test batch.

The mechanism of the sprayer is made of polypropylene. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking how the sprayer behaves with the specific formulation, especially its tightness and the movement of the piston after several weeks.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Let a hot mixture cool to at least room temperature before filling, and do not put a full bottle in the freezer. The bottle can be reused after washing. The sprayer lasts for several fillings if it is rinsed in between.

Closures with the same neck type, as well as ready-made bottle plus closure combinations, can be found in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with the specific formulation.

The glass bottle goes into glass recycling, the sprayer into plastics. Separate the two parts before recycling.

Frequently asked questions

Does an amber glass bottle with a sprayer protect the contents from light?
Yes, amber glass dampens the penetration of light and slows down the changes that light causes in sensitive ingredients. It is therefore suitable for toners with essential oils, plant extracts or vitamins. It does not provide complete protection from light, so the packaging should still be stored away from direct sunlight.
How much liquid does the sprayer release with one press?
Approximately 0.13 ml with a full press and thin aqueous contents. The value is indicative. With thicker liquids, a partial press or an almost empty bottle, the dose is usually smaller. A 30 ml filling therefore gives approximately 230 presses.
Why is the dip tube of the sprayer longer than the bottle?
The sprayer with an 18/415 neck finish is supplied with a dip tube of universal length, which is adapted to the specific bottle. Before first use, it is shortened so that it reaches just above the bottom. The cut should be slanted, so that the tube does not stick to the bottom and draws up the contents to the end.
Can oil or an oil serum be used in this bottle with a sprayer?
It is not recommended. The sprayer is designed for aqueous and alcohol-based liquids with low viscosity. Pure oil passes through the nozzle with difficulty, comes out as a jet or drips, and the mechanism becomes clogged over time. A bottle with a dropper or a pump is suitable for oils and serums.
Can I fill the glass bottle with a sprayer up to the brim?
No, fill it only up to the nominal volume of 30 ml. The remaining space up to the brim is a reserve for the dip tube of the sprayer and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If it is filled to the brim, part of the liquid is pushed out through the thread when the sprayer is screwed on and the packaging stops sealing.
Is the bottle and sprayer set also suitable for food?
No, the set is not approved for contact with food. The bottle and the sprayer are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products, that is, for toners, mists, perfume waters and similar preparations. For homemade syrups, oils or herbal infusions, choose packaging with a food-contact certificate.
