Product description
This is a ready-made kit consisting of a clear glass bottle with a nominal volume of 50 ml and a white plastic pump sprayer with a dip tube. It is intended for liquid preparations applied by spraying: facial tonics, hydrolats, facial and body mists, hair sprays, air and linen fresheners, or alcohol-based waters. Both the bottle and the sprayer are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics, so the kit can be used for a finished product intended for sale as well as for personal home production.
Clear glass reveals the colour and clarity of the contents, which is useful for hydrolats, tinted tonics or floral waters that you want to showcase. Glass also does not react with the contents, does not absorb fragrances, and is compatible with both alcohol-based and water-based formulations. The sprayer disperses the contents into a fine mist and releases a small, repeatable dose of around 0.13 ml with each press, ensuring economical and even dispensing.
What the kit can handle and where its limits are
- Water-based and alcohol-based contents – hydrolats, tonics, floral waters, hand sanitiser sprays or perfumed alcohol-based waters are the most suitable for this kit. Thin liquids pass through the nozzle without issues and the mist is fine.
- Light mists with active ingredients – very thin two-phase or milky mists can be sprayed if they do not contain thickeners. Before filling a larger batch, we recommend testing whether the nozzle stays unclogged.
- Oil-based contents – pure vegetable oils and thicker oil serums cannot be sprayed; the mechanism either forces them out in a stream or becomes clogged. For oils, packaging with a dropper or pump is more appropriate.
- Light protection – clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Preparations sensitive to light (hydrolats without a preservative, vitamin C, essential oils) should be stored in the filled kit in the dark, or choose amber or blue glass.
Nominal volume and volume to the brim
The nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended at normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is always slightly larger. The difference provides a buffer for the dip tube and the body of the sprayer, which take up some space when screwed on, as well as for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the contents will be pushed out through the thread when the sprayer is attached, and the bottle will not seal properly.
The sprayer's dip tube reaches to the bottom of the bottle. If you want to use the contents down to the last dose, check the tube before first use and, if necessary, trim it slightly so that it touches the bottom without bending.
Preparation before filling and reuse
Before filling for the first time, wash the bottle with warm water, sanitise with alcohol (isopropyl alcohol or ethanol) and allow to dry completely. Rinse the sprayer with clean water, press it several times without any liquid, and allow it to drain. When filling water-based preparations without a preservative, cleanliness of the packaging is crucial, as residues of water or previous contents are a source of microbial contamination.
The kit is intended for repeated use. The glass bottle can be refilled after thorough washing without limitation. After each fill, rinse the sprayer thoroughly, especially if it contained alcohol-based or perfumed preparations, otherwise the fragrances will transfer to the next fill.
Glass cannot withstand sudden temperature changes. Do not fill the bottle with hot contents and do not take it directly from the refrigerator into hot water. Fill hydrolats and tonics once they have cooled to room temperature.
Good to know
The glass bottle on its own holds a certification for direct contact with food. The sprayer does not have this certification, so the kit as a whole is intended for cosmetic and technical use, not for food. If you need a cleaning spray with vinegar or a plant mister, this is technical use and the kit is suitable without restriction.
The bottle has a standard neck with the thread type listed in the product specifications. Closures with the same neck type and other ready-made bottle and closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. When using your own combination, we recommend verifying seal integrity and dosing with the specific formulation, especially with alcohol-based and essential oil components.
When labelling, bear in mind that through the clear glass the reverse side of the label is also visible. At the end of its service life, glass goes into the glass recycling bin and the sprayer into plastic; separate them before disposal.
