Product description

This bottle made of matte amber glass with a volume of 30 ml and a white fine mist sprayer is intended for liquid preparations that are applied by spraying: hydrosols, face and hair tonics, refreshing face sprays or perfumed waters. Amber glass limits the amount of light reaching the contents, which matters for fragrance ingredients and plant extracts that are damaged by light. The small volume suits samples, travel packs and preservative-free preparations that are used up within a few days.

The set consists of a threaded bottle and a sprayer with a dip tube. Both parts are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products, and the declaration of conformity is provided with the product. The set is not intended for food.

What the set is suitable for

  • Hydrosols and face tonics – the sprayer distributes thin water-based preparations evenly over the skin, and the contents do not touch your hands during application.
  • Hair and body sprays – light refreshing blends, water-based solutions of active ingredients or sprays with an alcohol base.
  • Perfumed waters and fragrance testers – dark glass protects the fragrance composition from light, and the volume suits a travel or trial pack.
  • Household sprays – the packaging is also available in technical grade, so it can be used for non-cosmetic spray preparations, for example for textiles or room fragrance sprays.

How to work with the set

The sprayer screws onto the bottle neck, the tube reaches to the bottom, and the contents are drawn up when you press the head. One press dispenses approximately 0.13 ml, which for a full bottle corresponds to roughly two hundred presses. The liquid comes out as a fine mist, so the set is suitable for preparations that should stay on the skin or hair in a thin layer and should not run off.

The sprayer tube is longer than the bottle is tall, so after screwing on it rests against the bottom and bends. Shorten it with a sharp knife so that it ends just above the bottom. It then draws up the contents to the very end, and the bottle can be emptied without any residue.

The sprayer is designed for liquids with a consistency close to water. Oils, gels and emulsions clog the nozzle or come out in drops instead of mist. For sprays with a high proportion of alcohol or essential oils, test the tightness and operation of the sprayer on a small quantity, as the nozzle, piston and seal are made of plastic.

Oil serums, body oils and thicker preparations do not belong in this set. For dispensing oils, use a closure with a dropper or a pump with the same neck type as stated in the parameters.

Good to know

The nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is intended for under normal filling. The total brimful volume stated in the parameters is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the sprayer tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. An overfilled bottle pushes part of the contents out through the thread when you screw on the sprayer.

Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and leave it to dry completely. Pump clean water through the sprayer several times and leave it to dry with the tube pointing downwards. The glass withstands repeated washing and filling, but hot contents must not be poured into it. Let the preparation cool before filling, and do not expose the bottle to sudden temperature changes. When reusing the sprayer, rinse it after emptying and pump clean water through it so that no old contents remain in the tube. When changing the fragrance, a new sprayer is better, as residues of fragrance ingredients are difficult to remove from plastic.

Replacement sprayers, other closures with the same neck type and ready-made bottle and closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.

For recycling, the bottle and the sprayer are separated. The glass belongs in glass waste, and the sprayer made of polypropylene belongs in plastics.

Frequently asked questions

Does the matte amber 30 ml bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, amber glass lets through significantly less light than clear glass. Hydrosols, tonics with plant extracts and fragrance blends are better protected in it from the changes caused by light. The glass does not protect against heat, so do not leave the bottle in a sunny spot or near a heat source.
Can oil be applied with the sprayer on the 30 ml bottle?
No, the sprayer is intended for thin water-based and alcohol-based liquids. Oils and thicker preparations come out of the nozzle in drops or clog it, and the piston eventually jams. For an oil serum or body oil, a bottle with a dropper or a pump is suitable. When choosing a closure, follow the neck type stated in the parameters.
Can I fill the 30 ml glass bottle to the brim?
No, fill it to the nominal volume of 30 ml. The total brimful volume is larger and serves as a reserve for the sprayer tube and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If the bottle is filled up to the neck, part of the contents is pushed out through the thread when the sprayer is screwed on, and the closure may not seal.
How do I prepare the bottle with a sprayer before the first filling, and can it be used repeatedly?
Wash the bottle, disinfect it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and leave it to dry completely. Pump clean water through the sprayer. The glass can be washed and filled repeatedly. After emptying, rinse the sprayer and pump clean water through it. When changing the fragrance preparation, it is better to use a new one, because fragrance residues remain in the plastic.
Is the glass bottle with a sprayer suitable for perfumed waters and sprays with a high alcohol content?
For the glass bottle, yes – glass does not react with alcohol or fragrance ingredients, and amber glass protects them from light. The sprayer is made of polypropylene with a plastic nozzle and seal. For blends with a high proportion of alcohol or essential oils, therefore, test the tightness and operation of the piston on a small quantity before you fill an entire batch.
