Product description

The glass bottle with a sprayer for 100 ml is a ready-made combination of container and closure for products that are applied as a fine mist. Its base is white opaque glass shaped like a medicine bottle, which limits light exposure to the contents, and a white plastic sprayer with a dip tube that turns the bottle into a practical spray. The set is particularly suited to facial toners, hydrolates, facial and body mists, hair sprays and light scented waters – in short, anything that is thin and is meant to be dispensed without contact with the hands.

The white colour of the glass gives the container a clean, uniform look on which a label stands out well.

Why choose this set

  • Protection from light – the opaque white glass limits light exposure, so it is also suitable for light-sensitive contents, for example hydrolates, toners with plant extracts or products with vitamins and essential oils.
  • Glass as a neutral material – glass does not react with the contents, does not absorb scents and does not transfer them to the next fill. This is an advantage with products containing essential oils or an alcohol base.
  • A fine dose per press – the sprayer releases a small amount of the contents as a dispersed mist, which matches the application of toners and mists to the face, hair or body.
  • Hygienic dispensing – during use the contents do not touch the fingers and come into contact with air less than in an open bottle, which reduces the risk of contamination.
  • A ready-made combination – the sprayer fits the neck of the bottle, so there is no need to look for a closure with the right thread type.

Which products it is suitable for

The set is intended for thin, water-based or water-alcohol fills that the sprayer can disperse into a mist. These are typically:

  • facial toners and hydrolates (rose, lavender, chamomile),
  • facial mists with humectants, for example with glycerin or hyaluronic acid in low concentration,
  • refreshing body and hair sprays, light leave-in conditioners in a spray,
  • scented waters and body fragrances on an alcohol base,
  • water-based solutions of active ingredients for the scalp.

The 100 ml volume is suitable both for ordinary home packaging and for presenting a product in a smaller series.

The sprayer is not intended for thick or oily contents. Emulsions, creamy textures, gels and pure plant oils will not disperse into a mist through the nozzle, they may clog it or flow out of it in a stream. For such products a pump or a dropper is more suitable.

Nominal and total volume

For every container we state two volumes. The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is intended for under normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume all the way up to the neck and is always somewhat larger. The difference between them forms a reserve for the sprayer's dip tube, which pushes part of the contents upward when it is screwed on, and for the possible expansion of the contents with a change in temperature. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim – otherwise the contents will overflow when the sprayer is fitted.

How to prepare and use the set

Before the first fill it is recommended to wash and disinfect both the bottle and the sprayer with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. It is a good idea to rinse the sprayer's dip tube and spray it several times with clean water to remove any manufacturing residue. A funnel or a syringe helps during filling so that the contents do not get onto the thread.

After filling, the sprayer is screwed on tightly but without excessive force – the plastic thread should not be forced. Before fitting, the dip tube can be shortened so that its end touches the bottom of the bottle and the contents can be used up as fully as possible.

Test the mist from the sprayer with your specific formulation before packaging a larger series. Toners with a higher proportion of glycerin or thickeners may produce coarser droplets than a pure hydrolate; the recipe can, if need be, be diluted slightly.

For repeated use the set is taken apart. The glass can be washed and disinfected without restrictions, the sprayer needs to be rinsed thoroughly including the dip tube and the nozzle, or replaced with a new one if residue of the previous fill remains in it.

Good to know

  • Glass and heat – the bottle withstands ordinary temperatures during filling, but sudden changes in temperature can damage the glass. Let hot solutions cool to at least room temperature before filling.
  • Plastic and alcohol-based contents – the sprayer is made of polypropylene, which is also commonly used for scented waters. With a high proportion of alcohol or essential oils it is advisable to verify the behaviour of the nozzle and the tightness in the specific product over the long term.
  • Use in cosmetics – as a whole the set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. It is not declared for contact with food, so it is not recommended for home-made syrups, oils or infusions.
  • Labelling – self-adhesive labels hold well on the smooth white glass.
  • Other closures – other closures with the same neck type, which is stated in the parameters, can also be fitted to the bottle. For your own combination we recommend verifying the tightness and dispensing with the specific formulation.
  • Recycling – the glass is sorted as glass, the sprayer as plastic; separate the two parts from each other before disposal.

Frequently asked questions

Does the white glass bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, the white glass of this bottle is opaque and limits light exposure to the contents. It is therefore also suitable for toners with plant extracts, hydrolates and products with essential oils, which lose their scent and effect faster in the light. Compared with brown or blue glass, the difference lies mainly in appearance and in the fact that the contents are not visible.
Can oil or cream be filled into the bottle with a sprayer?
No, the sprayer is intended for thin water-based and water-alcohol contents. Oil, an emulsion or a gel will not disperse into a mist through the nozzle, they flow out in a stream or clog the nozzle. For oils a bottle with a dropper or a pump is more suitable, for creams a jar or a bottle with a pump.
How much liquid actually fits into a 100 ml bottle?
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume stated in the name, not to the brim. The total volume up to the neck is slightly larger, but this reserve is taken up by the sprayer's dip tube, which pushes the level upward when it is screwed on. If the bottle is filled completely, the contents will overflow when the sprayer is fitted.
Is the set suitable for scented water with alcohol?
Yes, the glass bottle is suitable for alcohol-based contents and the polypropylene sprayer is commonly used with scented waters. Glass does not absorb alcohol or fragrance substances and does not transfer them to the next fill. For products with a very high proportion of essential oils we recommend verifying the behaviour of the sprayer with the specific recipe over a longer period.
How is the bottle with a sprayer cleaned before repeated use?
The set is taken apart, the glass is washed with warm water and detergent and disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. The sprayer needs to be rinsed with clean water including the dip tube and sprayed through several times so that the nozzle is cleaned too. Both parts are left to dry completely and only then filled with new contents.
Does a product in a spray need a preservative?
Yes, water-based contents in a sprayer need a preservative just as in any other container. Although the sprayer limits the contact of the contents with the fingers, air is drawn into the bottle with each press, so the product is not sealed sterilely. Hydrolates and toners without a preservative should be used up quickly and stored in a cool place.
