Product description

This 50 ml glass spray bottle is a ready-made set for toners, facial mists and refreshing sprays that are applied as a fine mist rather than poured. The frosted glass dims the light, yet the contents remain visible, so it is clear how much product is left. The white sprayer dispenses a small amount of liquid as a mist, which suits water- or alcohol-based preparations.

Why this set

  • Protecting the contents – the frosted glass scatters direct light and slows its effect on sensitive ingredients such as hydrolates, extracts or fragrance compositions. It is not full protection like amber glass.
  • Glass does not react with the contents – it is also suitable for preparations containing alcohol, essential oils or with an acidic pH, where plastic may soften or take on an odour over time.
  • Fine mist – the sprayer breaks the dose into tiny droplets, the product spreads evenly and you need less of it than when applying from the palm.
  • Practical volume – 50 ml is a size for travelling, for a handbag, for samples for customers or for testing a new formula before larger production.
  • Reusable – both the glass and the sprayer can be refilled after thorough cleaning.

How to work with the set

The sprayer is designed for low-viscosity liquids: aqueous solutions, hydrolates, toners with solubilised essential oils, alcohol-based sprays and light hair mists. The thinner the contents, the finer and more even the mist. Thicker liquids, serums with a higher proportion of gel-forming agents or preparations with undissolved particles put a strain on the sprayer. Dispensing becomes irregular and the nozzle may clog.

The sprayer works mechanically, without a propellant gas. Before first use, press it several times until the tube fills and the mist starts coming out evenly. Screw on the sprayer and tighten it by hand so that it seals, but without force. The thread on the glass can be damaged by overtightening.

The sprayer tube is longer than the bottle in this set. Before the first filling, shorten it with a sharp knife using an angled cut so that it reaches the bottom without any significant bending. The angled cut prevents the tube from „sticking“ to the bottom and failing to draw up liquid.

Nominal and total volume

For every container we state two volumes. The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for under normal filling, in this case 50 ml. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume all the way up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the sprayer tube, for the air above the surface and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the contents leak out of the neck once the sprayer is attached and the closure does not seal.

Suitable for products such as

  • Facial toners and mists – hydrolates, mists with glycerine or hyaluronic acid in low concentration, soothing after-shave sprays.
  • Hair sprays – light leave-in conditioners, refreshing mists with a hydrolate, alcohol-based setting sprays.
  • Body and home fragrances – alcohol-based perfume sprays, air and textile fresheners with solubilised essential oils.
  • Auxiliary solutions in production – alcohol for removing bubbles from the surface of soap or for disinfecting the work surface and moulds.

Good to know

Before the first filling, wash the bottle in warm water with detergent, rinse it, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely neck down. Rinse the sprayer with clean water, press it several times so that the water passes through the whole mechanism, and let it dry as well. Residual moisture dilutes the product and shortens its shelf life.

Glass tolerates sudden temperature changes poorly. Do not pour a hot solution into a cold bottle; let the preparation cool at least to room temperature. A small funnel or syringe helps during filling so that the contents do not get onto the thread. Dried residues on the neck impair the seal.

The sprayer is made of polypropylene. Aqueous and alcohol-based solutions do not harm it, but undiluted essential oils, pure vegetable oils or solvents may over time damage the seal and the mechanism. Oil-based preparations therefore do not belong in this set; for them, bottles with a dropper or a pump are more suitable.

Preparations containing water need functional preservation even in a spray. The sprayer does prevent direct contact of the contents with the fingers, but with every press air is drawn into the bottle, and with it microorganisms.

For repeated use, take the set apart, wash the bottle and disinfect it as before the first filling. Rinse the sprayer with warm water and a small amount of detergent, spray it out empty and dry it thoroughly. If it remains clogged, rinse it with ethanol. With a pronounced change in the scent of the contents, for example from a lavender spray to a citrus one, it is better to use a new sprayer, as the plastic retains the previous scent.

If you want to combine the bottle with a different closure, choose closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters. Ready-made combinations as well as standalone closures can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the container with the specific formulation.

Both the bottle and the sprayer have a certificate for contact with cosmetics, so the set is intended for cosmetic and home preparations. The set is not approved for food use.

After you finish using it, unscrew the sprayer. The glass goes into glass collection and the plastic sprayer into plastics according to the rules in your municipality.

Frequently asked questions

Does frosted glass protect the contents from light as well as amber glass?
Not entirely. Frosted glass dims and scatters light, but it does not block it as effectively as dark amber glass. For toners, hydrolates and alcohol-based sprays commonly stored in a cabinet or bathroom, the protection is sufficient. Preparations with highly sensitive ingredients that are meant to stand in daylight are safer to fill into amber glass or store out of direct sunlight.
Can oil be filled into the 50 ml glass spray bottle?
It is not recommended; the sprayer is designed for low-viscosity water- and alcohol-based liquids. Vegetable oils and anhydrous oil serums are too thick to spray, the mist forms unevenly and the polypropylene mechanism may stop sealing after prolonged contact with oils and undiluted essential oils. For oil-based preparations a bottle with a dropper or a pump is more suitable.
How much liquid fits into the 50 ml glass spray bottle?
The bottle is intended for 50 ml, which is its nominal volume; the physical volume all the way up to the neck is somewhat larger. The difference serves as a reserve for the sprayer tube, the air above the surface and the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. It is therefore filled to the nominal volume. When filled to the brim, the contents leak out once the sprayer is attached and the closure does not seal.
How to clean a sprayer that has stopped spraying?
Rinse the sprayer with warm water and press it several times while empty so that the water passes through the whole mechanism. If the nozzle does not clear, rinse it with ethanol, which dissolves dried product residues, and let it dry. Frequent clogging is usually a sign that the contents are too thick for the sprayer or contain undissolved particles.
Is the glass spray bottle suitable for alcohol-based perfume sprays?
Yes, glass does not react with alcohol and the sprayer disperses alcohol-based solutions into a fine mist that breaks down quickly on the skin or textile. Before filling, let the perfume composition mature in the alcohol and, if necessary, filter it so that no undissolved residues get into the nozzle. Fill the bottle to the nominal volume and tighten the sprayer by hand, without force.
