Product description
Glass bottle, blue, white spray pump, 50 ml
Blue glass bottle with white spray pump is a complete set for 50 ml of toner, hydrolat or mist, ready to fill without searching for a suitable closure. Blue glass lets through less light than clear, helping to protect contents that lose stability or fragrance in light. The spray pump dispenses the contents in a fine mist, making the set particularly suitable for facial toners, hydrolats, refreshing mists and alcohol sprays in smaller volumes for testing, travel or handbag use.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the declaration of conformity and technical documentation are available with the product.
What the set offers
- Protection of contents from light – blue glass lets through less light than clear, which you will appreciate with hydrolats, solutions of active ingredients and fragrance blends that light gradually degrades.
- Glass with no interaction with the contents – glass does not react with aqueous or alcohol contents, does not absorb fragrance and can be thoroughly washed and reused.
- Fine dispensing – the spray pump disperses the contents into a fine mist, so toners and hydrolats are applied evenly and gently, without pouring into the palm.
- Practical volume – 50 ml is enough for samples, travel packaging or first batches of a new product where the formula is still being refined.
- Hygienic dispensing – the contents are drawn through the dip tube without opening the bottle and without contact with fingers, reducing the risk of introducing contaminants.
Nominal and total volume
The bottle has a nominal volume of 50 ml. This is the volume the container is designed for during standard filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is larger. The difference between them accounts for the dip tube and sprayer body, which displace some of the contents upward when fitted, and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature.
Fill the bottle to the nominal volume, not to the rim. When filling right up to the neck, after fitting the spray pump the contents will be forced out and there is a risk of overflow when closing or leakage during transport.
For which contents is the set suitable
The spray pump works best with thin aqueous and alcohol contents. Neither alcohol nor aqueous solutions damage the glass.
Thick oils, serums with higher viscosity, emulsions and products with undissolved particles do not dispense well through a spray pump. The mist is uneven, the mechanism clogs and the nozzle may become blocked. For such contents, a bottle with a dropper or pump is more suitable.
For contents with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend verifying the behaviour of the plastic parts of the spray pump with the specific formulation. Some ingredients may over time alter the seal or mechanism, even though the glass itself remains unchanged.
What is good to know when filling
- Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Rinse the spray pump several times with clean water or alcohol and leave to dry with the dip tube pointing downward.
- Dip tube length – the dip tube of the spray pump is longer than the bottle. Before fitting, shorten it so that it reaches just to the bottom; the contents can then be dispensed almost entirely.
- Filling – filling into the narrow neck is more comfortable with a funnel or syringe. Before fitting the spray pump, check that the neck is clean and dry, otherwise the thread may not seal properly.
- First presses – after fitting, the spray pump needs to be pressed several times until the dip tube draws up the contents and the mist stabilises. This is normal behaviour, not a fault.
- Closure and neck – the neck type of the bottle is stated in the specifications. Closures with the same neck type and ready-made packaging + closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. With your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation.
- Reuse – the glass can be washed and filled repeatedly. Rinse the spray pump when changing the contents; if it contained a fragrance blend, the residual scent may not be completely removable from the plastic.
- Recycling – the glass bottle goes into glass recycling, the polypropylene spray pump goes into plastics. Separate them before disposal.
Suitable for products such as
- Facial toners and hydrolats – a fine mist applies a small amount evenly over the entire face and blue glass protects sensitive hydrolats from light.
- Facial and body mists – light aqueous solutions with glycerin, hyaluronic acid or plant extracts.
- Fragrance sprays and room scents – alcohol solutions of fragrance compositions in smaller volumes for travel or as a sample.
- Hair sprays – refreshing and fixing aqueous or alcohol sprays without oily ingredients.
- Trial batches – 50 ml allows testing the formula in a real packaging before starting larger-scale production.
